This came up on LOBP, should the LHBPA buy it and digitise it (pretty cheap process assuming the tape is still in good condition)?

Depends what the LHBPA is.

yeh do it, that'd be sweet

i could do it bodge style, which mean projecting it and filming it off the screen. (infact anyone with a super 8mm proj and tripod and cam can) Actually this is 8mm maybe not super 8mm. Might not fit my proj. Telecineing that would cost quite some.

I'm pretty sure there'll be someone on here who'll do it for beers... Buy it!

Tell the grass polo people, don't really see that within the LHBPAs remit.

I'd go halves with someone? Emailed a friend about it*...
"Hi Fin, that looks amazing! Digitizing isn't difficult- you just need the right projector to play it off and a decent camera to refilm it, projected small onto a screen. I know some people who could help. The reel in the photo says 9.5 which is a rarer size (and projectors are harder to come by) but that might just be the reel its on. Worth double checking with the seller but the fella I know in Cotteridge can probably still help".*

It was more just out of interest, if the community wanted to see it then we could have screened it, etc.
Looks like it's not unanimous, but I'd still be keen to see it if someone has the time/equipment to convert it.

Or do it yourself of course, looks like a cool project (just saying I don't see why LHBPA funds should be spent on it) Looks like emoxfag is on it too, maybe link up with him.

wtf, has everyone got me on igore?
-
• #1838
Yes. No. Wait... what?

If you could get the right kind of cine projector, you could just project the film onto a screen or even a wall or something and then use a normal video camera to record it.
That would work, wouldn't it?

That sounds good Jono. Nice one Jono.
-
• #1842
You could project it and film the projection. Just sayin
-
• #1843
Get the LHBPA on it. Then just project onto a white wall and film it, job done.
-
• #1844
Mark nailed it right there.
Alternatively, you could find a flat vertical white surface, set up a video camera to film that space and then show the old footage in the space that the video camera is filming? No?

• #1845
Erm... Copyright infringement is illegal guys
-
• #1846
What about if we projected the film on to some sort of screen instead and then used some sort of recording device to film the film as the film went round? That's legal, right?
-
• #1847
Harshing on our buzz dude
-
• #1848
Copyright is likely expired. Which means you'd probably be free to locate a playback device, white surface, record etc. etc. etc.
-
• #1849
Brendan probably has something to say about how we can do it. B?
I don't even know what 'it' is.

Yo, I got it, film the film!
^ how have they managed to make that looks like an a-level media project from the 90's?
