-
• #78
Yeah I can be anywhere within 5 miles of town by around 6 oclock (I say around, it's all about my boss letting me sneak out a little early!), so I can meet you round yours if you want Rory and we can whizz to meet Ronnie in Fallowfield... hows that sound?
-
• #79
where are you guys meeting in town? il meet you then we can all go to fallowfield
-
• #80
well i'm coming straight from work so how about by the big wheel at 6? sound ok?
-
• #81
also are people taking bags, waterproofs anythin like that, i was just gonna wear short cycling gear and take a water bottle and repair kit? will i need anything else
-
• #82
Wheel at six sounds good, ill take my bag with a pump, spanner, keys and tube, and maybe a light jacket, but other than that I wont be kitted up!
Not looking forward to it to be honest, reckon I'll be nackered by the time we get to the bottom of the climb, so god knows how I'll get up! ah well, worth a try.
-
• #83
I'll have my north face bag nd a waterproof jacket - my mini pump's still dead so I'll have a few tools but no pump - have you got a good pump ste?
-
• #84
If you're taking a bag, take a spare T Shirt as it'll be soaked with sweat. I'm just taking a bottle cage/pump and spare bits in saddle pack, and whatever I can fit in my jersey pockets.

-
• #87
Actually, how long are we expecting it to take getting there? By my calculations its about 25 miles from town, so we may not get there till quite late and I've not got any bloody lights you see! How long did it take you on your fixed Ronnie?
-
• #88
leave at 6, 25mph we will be there by 7 ;-P

Loving your optimism! Last long ride I did was 60miles, and it took me nearly 4 and a bit hours! haha, closer to 10mph than 25mph!!!

Newton, was about a 3.5 hour trip last time. Lights really ought to be in order as will be dark for some of the route back on poorly lit roads. You might want to get the train home from Macc maybe ?
-
• #91
Yeah Ill have to do that, no money for lights this month!
-
• #92
if you all end up somewhere for a beer text me. me and maya are gonna go for a more chilled ride but we could stop off after to laugh at your sore knees..
-
• #93
Probably see you at the bottom of Cat & Fiddle - I'll be hanging about outside Arigi Bianchi (sp?) on my Langster from about 7:15 (but don't wait if I don't make it!)
It takes me an hour-and-a-quarter to an hour-and-half to ride from Harry Halls to Macc, then its about 40-minutes up to the top. An alternative would be keep on going to Buxton and get the train back from the there...
-
• #94
Actually that sounds like a good plan - in spose we'll just play the latter bit by ear?
-
• #95
woo! made it back alive, 54 miles left at 6.30 got to cat and fiddle at 8.30, suprisingly my knees still bend this morning too
-

Well done mate, I must have got about 1 mile into it out of Macclesfield and literally couldn't turn my cranks! Rory got a hell of a lot further than me before meeting me at the train station, but glad to hear you and Ronnie got to the top.
Next time I have a bright idea, try to discourage me eh?

Sorry didn't make it - still haven't quite recovered from a 50-mile thrash on my my 1930s bike at the weekend... Thought 70"+ could be a struggle! :)
I'm still up for it, I'll not meet you in town, I'll wait outside The Friendship in Fallowfield.
