  • about the windproof, what's the fit like ? I don't really want to order both a L and XL ...

  • If you put a Rapha sandwich to your ear you can hear Simon Motram laughing at you as cash registers draws slam open and closed again and again.

I'm going to go there for lunch one day, but I shall be leaving with the espresso cup...

Not really, of course, theft is wrong.

Subway may not be pricey, but it certainly isn't nice.

I disagree; when I'm in a ravenous post-ride mood I can sometimes devour a foot-long BMT with great glee. But it really is an inhuman amount of meat to be putting in your belly.

  • I wish they'd put the grand tour gloves on sale. Mine are knackered. Pfft.

  • The food is priced In such a way to cover all the espresso cups that were scoused from the last Rapha cafe project.

    yaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • I'm not surprised you're yawning, posting at 3am.

How do you look so good with so little sleep?

  • botox

  • buttocks

    Fixed.

  • Greetings folks,
I am going to stick my neck on the line here and praise Rapha.
As the title of the thread goes, nice but a bit pricey - yes.
Like many cyclists I have some of their products and yes they are great.
Yes they and some cyclists deserve to be knocked when decked out head to toe - sure
you subscribe to a certain look, possibly even 'stylish' but head to toe to me anyway lacks imagination...
I would rather city types spent their bonuses on cycling gear and bikes than cars, if it makes them feel good
let them get on with it.
The company employ people and have put money in to a racing team.
I have been to their cycle club / cafe place and personally decided to buy a coffee
elsewhere. Yes the cafe is expensive but so is almost everything in that part of town.
We are lucky that we can take things or leave them - this extends to Rapha.
If you don't like it/ them then use another cafe and buy cycling gear elsewhere.
Enjoy your cycling whatever you are wearing and wherever you stop for a coffee.
Peace and Love to one and all,
    Tim

  • SAS ethos much like rapha's sums it up pretty good.

We believe that cycling apparel has the ability to transcend function. What you wear for the ride should motivate, inspire and do everything it can to keep you moving forward.

  • SAS just looks like another black jersey £30 too expensive.

Look the part and you'll be the part. Makes sense. No small part of why I'm happy to go ride in the rain / dark / winter is because I love my bike and I've got gear that looks OK and keeps me dry.

  • "All the gear, no idea" springs to mind.

    Not at you personally, Dan.

  • I ride in the winter for the same reasons I ride in the summer. It's enjoyable, social and challenging.

The right gear is important but all that existed prior to heavily marketed motivationally inspiring polyester. Fuck my jersey taking the credit.

  • Everyone should get a team, and a team jersey. That's motivating.

  • lovely post JAH tim, I am currently unable to rep you.

  • I saw a fucking DUDE in Richmond park yesterday.

In his 60's deep tan, white hair and goatee.

dressed in head to toe Rapha, shorts, blue / red jersey, white grand tour gloves which perfectly matched his hair colour.

    Riding a sweet Celeste Bianchi...

Rep 2 da max. He pulled off the Raphar catalogue look beautifully.

  • Father of DJ, possibly?

  • Impossible. This guy had style.

  • Plus everyone knows James is a complete bastard

  • Impossible. This guy had style.

    andyp's Dad then.

    Hatbeard, have some rep

I think everyone's been guilty of this at some point - whether in a cycling context or not. I stopped caring ages ago.

  • I'm looking for a jacket for when I start work and therefore commuting again (teacher, yo) and a friend of mine works for Montane so is trying to get me a Dyno cheap http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=60775&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Shopping&utm_name=UnitedKingdom (already pretty cheap).
Fighting the urge to go to the Rapha shop in Soho and try on one of their (non City) Wind Jackets though as they're in the sale. Really though, are they worth the price? Does anyone own one?
The only product that made me REALLY want to get Rapha was the Bomber, but they don't make that anymore.

  • The wind jacket is possibly my favourite bit of cycling kit. Buy one.

  • Thanks. Might do.

  • Can someone answer a question that has stopped me hitting buy on many different 'cycling trousers' but especially the Rapha trousers.

If you intend to wear the same trousers on your commute in work, as 'cycling trousers' would suggest you do, what do you do when it rains? Do you always carry a spare pair of trousers in case of rain? This defeats the point. I DON'T UNDERSTAND. The last thing I want to do after cycling 20 miles is work for 8 hours in sodden trousers.
