  • I bet it stings like mad it if you get it anywhere near boys bits...

    (or girls thinking about it)

  • Exactly, and it's £8-you can't loose

    Lose. FFS.

    City Wind Jacket? Gash

    "The City" has always been full of wind. Particularly those fella's who wore those shifty jackets in the stock exchange. Maybe Rapha have updated the traders' jackets?

    Not sure what to write about gash.

    Pro-sheen...sounds like something I'd spray on the dog to make its coat shine.

    Maybe this is a women-only product?

  • Maybe the Pro Sheen is supposed to make you look sweaty, like you have worked harder than you have...

  • those fella's

    fellas. FFS.

  • Some showed me this recently:

    Whilst I was using my tub of Tiger Balm. So we did a test, one arm had each on. Rapha stuff has about quarter of the strength of Tiger balm, and is softer, so won't last as long.

    DISCLAIMER: Not a rapha hater.

  • Tiger balm is pretty powerful though. I've never tried a cycling embro anywhere near as strong as that. Deep Heat is somewhere in between, I guess.

    The Rapha chamois cream is really excellent, but just too expensive to use regularly compared to yer common or garden aqueous cream.

  • I've never used chamois cream, does it really make a significant difference?

  • Short rides no, long rides yes.. where the dividing line could be 10 miles or 100 depending on the cyclist and weather.

  • I used some of my sample that came with my bib shorts, was really refreshing and smelt great, not that that matters, I dont suffer from rubbing really but it was defiantly a nice change.

  • chamois != embrocation

  • You Don't Like Rapha Do You

  • me?

    No, I'm Quite Partial To A Nice Bit Of Rapha, Actually.

  • Oh, my appologies then.

    chamois != embrocation

    Confused?

  • Confused?

    are you?

    my post was merely to remind that the two salves should not be mixed up, since the last few posts are alternatingly about both. just trying to prevent any uncomfortable mishaps...

  • I might be confused too - I read that as chamois ≠ embrocation. Which is true. Was it meant to mean something else or am I being a silly sausage?

    Edit: I see. The mixing up of tiger balm and chamois cream could lead to a very distressing ride.

  • now I'm totally confused.

    != or ≠ makes no odds to me, the first is easier to type.

    I really didn't think it needed this much explanation.

  • ^^ re: edit - yeah, that.

  • Ah again I was being thick, I didn't understand that != was the same as [cant do on phone] so it makes sense. I thought it was that they where the same product, and thought that that would suggest a dislike for them on your behalf.

    I was wrong.

  • What are the Long Sleeve Jerseys like?*

    Are they heavier fabric than the Club Jersey?

    *Long Sleeve, rather than Winter I mean.

    I bought one to find out.

    The fabric is as nice, and cut is good. The arms are a bit too short for me.

    I'm a bit disappointed with the pocket arrangement. The centre pocket is very deep and narrow. A useless shape unless I start munching on Toblerones as ride food. I know the pocket has within it a 'pump pocket' but I'll never use that and the old Club Jersey had a neat pocket for a pump that worked without rendering the middle pocket useless.

    /rant

  • chamois != embrocation

    Sorry if my juxtaposition of the two confused anyone... Was kind of continuing the general chat about the Rapha range of "stuff in pots".

  • Has anyone bought there town leather gloves? Just wondering what they are like or if there is better out there?

  • burton, what would you be comparing the town gloves to?
    I have a pair and they have quickly become my favourite gloves, I ride them even now as the weather changes when I don't actually need to. They are warm enough to wear until it gets proper cold in winter, but not so hot that you can't wear them in the current climes. Stitching has started to come away from the palm on mine, but they were a sample sale purchase so probably failed the quality control somewhere down the line. Will be looking to get them repaired/restitched soon.

    Once I stop wearing them. Love them but not full price love..

  • I have the previous version of them. Love them, though I mainly wear them off the bike (need to wear gloves a lot because of circulation problems). I wore them daily from about October to late February just out and about. So, so comfortable.

    It's weird, but they seem too good to ride in and because I like them so much off the bike I worry about wearing them out, though I have done a fair few miles in them and they're still in great shape. Then, I have the PS white track gloves for riding, though I can't get over the sensation of having Mickey Mouse hands when wearing those.

  • either I saw a die hard fan or a Rapha-Condor-Sharp team rider yesterday morning: full team kit riding a black Condor, heading towards Avonmouth

  • Ordered the black rapha hat with the white stripe last night. Looked like the best choice, couldn't imagine the green one matching much to be honest (apart from the forum jersey perhaps?)
