  • ^tailor?

  • That's probably the smart way. I hadn't thought of that, but I'm lazy and that seems like it would raise the cost. I might just go for Swrve then.

I was hoping hot water would do the trick.

  • Bodie and Doyle can recommend you a good one, or you could go the your local alterations dude/lady, this will keep the price down.

  • FWIW I like Rapha... but I usually buy 'cheapo' cycling clothes 'cos I am tight and would rather spend on my bike.

^ best thing said on this thread. Buy cheaper clothes, get a better bike.

Or, alternatively, spend your hard earned disposable income on whatever makes you happy whether it's clothes, bikes or Chia Pets.

I like to find a happy medium - I don't think I'd enjoy riding round naked on an S-Works Venge McLaren....

I just remembered I live above a Dry Cleaner that does alterations. I have no excuse to be lazy now, thanks for the idea. It honestly wouldn't have occurred to me.

    I'll get the jeans.

  • The evolution of alterations :

Young lad - Bought mother a sewing machine, she sorted alterations out for me
Moved out of home (Single) - Dry Cleaners (£5 a pop)
Married - Bought wife sewing machine (it lives in the shed (the sewing machine that is))
Married with wife and sewing machine - Dry Cleaners (£10 a pop)

fcuk knows who can fit into a pair of Rapha trews without alterations...I bought a pair of 34" at the sample sale and need about 10" off the legs (down to a 32") !

  • Tear 9" off each leg (think of plausible story) send to Rapha for crash repair.

easy..my too cool for school turn ups got caught in my chain, to compound matters i wore my trousers back to front and it happened again as i did not want to bother Rapha's repair service....(btw would you mind just cutting them down to a 32" as i like to show the world my ankles).

    Hows that ?

  • Not epic enough.

  • Hmm, this ?

Dear Sir / Madame, please find enclosed one pair of trousers with approximately 9" ripped from the bottom of each leg. I wish to take you up on your free repair service post accident / crash damage. The enclosed trousers were damaged due to the following :

It was a cold windy Thursday evening and was riding home from a long day at the office. I had purchased enclosed garment only 4 days prior at your most excellent sample sale on the lane of bricks. I bought them in a 34" waist due to the fact that I have a rather large arse, I often find that trousers do not fit properly due to the extra strain a large posterior puts on the fabric, thus creating a tightening across the thighs. Its a family trait passed down on my fathers side, he played allot of football as a kid and I think a large arse was actually a good thing for him (see Alan Shearer or Mark Hughes). I digress, I was cycling home in the trousers along Parkhill Road. About 2/3rd's of the way along the road is a small sections of wood's, as I approached the woods a deer bolted across the road causing me to swerve into the gutter. I was travelling at approximately 55mph (bloody Strava) just prior to the incident, upon hitting the curb I was thrown over my bars where the right leg of my trouser was slashed by my brake lever, this in turn propelled the bike 360 degrees landing on my left leg and slashing the bottom 9" of this also. I would like you to note at this point that the smell emanating from the trousers is due to a large dog turd on the pavement. I was in no way responsible for that mess,

If possible could you cut them down to a 32" leg as I currently have my legs calipers (Zero G's i'll have you know) due to the multiple fractures suffered.

  • No chance, you didn't even mention Ventoux.

  • And you misspelt "a lot"

  • prob misspelt it allot

  • ^^ Pedant.

^^^ No grainy b&w photos of suffering either.

^^^^ Your sign off is excellent, well done have rep.

  • Dip the ripped ends in blood and mention that you lost your feet and 9" of your legs when using them to stop after you burned through your brakes while descending Ventoux. That way, you will get the repairs and a free sample pot of winter embrocation.

  • genius!

  • ^^ someone's done this before.

  • ^^^^^^^^ moot as you bought the trousers at the sample sale so aren't entitled to a free repair service :) Cool story though.

  • And you misspelt "a lot"

    Or should that be misspelled?

    This is not pedantry.

I suggest we have a couple of spelling moderators, who perform random spelling checks. Those found to have errors in their posts would receive a two-year ban from the forum.

    I thank you.

  • ^ Don't worry, Oliver will be along soon...

    Got me!

    Bravo, Brave.

  • Ithankyou

  • I bought a city riding jersey just before Christmas and I have found 2 little small holes on the back, I have no idea how it has happened as I have been wearing a jacket over the top. Would Rapha repair this?
