    Although, not too stable:

Edit: Must learn to read. Still -$6 shipping from the States isn't bad.

  • Rivendell Bicycles sell this piece of cloth for 3 dollars which they call a burrito wrap. You have to supply your own strap. You could just get a piece of cloth yourself, if you have one hanging around.

    These look fookin awful.

Get a farmfoods bag and one of those red plastic bands the royal mail man drops and be done with it...

  • on the first tweed run I didn't fancy carrying a bag..

Inner tube around arms/chest OG style with lock attached to it. Tools in the assortment of pockets I had available and I had my mini-pump held onto the back of my saddle with an elastic band as Ved suggested

    Moar pricey @£44ish

The Park one looks really good actually. Especially if you didn't have the tools already.

Are you planning to buy it or already have one?
It looks like one of the worse saddle bags ever designed.

The Rapha one looks pretty average. One style and practicality this one smashes it. Kinda surprised Rapha made such a half arsed attempt.

I know there is a lot of weird on the net but a carryology site? I've seen it all now.

Mind you that Mopha looks very nice.....

  • it's still rather pricey though even with that off

  • Still nice though...

  • yes

I was skeptical but having bought won I can safely say that I would happily splash out full whack for another when the time comes. They are very good!

Carryology is one of the most respected sites in the whole bag/carry industry.
It's run by people who are involved in the industry themselves.

Might seem weird to some, but it's no different to fashion/tailoring/footwear sites and blogs.
When you think about how many thousands of companies are out there involved in the whole bag/luggage industry, it seems a lot more normal to have a site which covers and tests all the latest ideas, technology, designs, styles.

A good bag or piece of luggage can make peoples lives a lot more pleasant.

Watch this and tell me you don't see something special in it. :]

  • What is exactly so good with the soft shell? I have the rain jacket which except for mild/warm days over a jersey is perfect - keeps you warm and doesn't make you sweat. It has been perfect these last few cold days. Just interested to see if splashing out on another jacket really is worth it.

  • see see..it doesn't make you sweat! the softshell will. and its waterproof...from the inside

  • Is this now the saddle bag thread?

  • No I believe it is the "how much can I spend on a pretty (useless) rag thread."

  • the softshell would be for slightly colder days. and you would feel 35% cooler while being 55% hotter

  • Very temped by this soft shell offer - i wonder how many weeks of cold have we got left... Hmmm

  • i have had an endura softshell jacket for 5 years now.. don't think short term, think investment

  • "Actually the other day Rapha sent me this little wallet. Simon [Mottram, Rapha co-founder] sent me this leather wallet to put my phone and money in. I always just took a plastic bag, but now Rapha have made this, I will never go for a ride without it." Cav speaking to Paul Smith in GQ

Is this an example of Manx sarcasm?

  • No idea, but I have that wallet and it's lovely except for one minor thing: It's not waterproof.

Leather being leather it's OK in the shower proof sense, but I'm talking sweat here. You still have to wrap your phone in a freezer bag if you want to be sure that it's going to be of use to you after the ride.

The wallet is plush, lovely, I use it whenever I ride. It is nice. But it doesn't do away with the plastic bags.

This is an example of Cav endorsing something to guarantee future freebies.

I have one of these. I got it for motorbiking and it's a bit bigger than I'd use on the road bike (but I'm pretty obsessive about having the smallest saddle bag I can get away with), but it's great, no bigger than some of the ones posted above, has millions of elastic loops, a sealable compartment, rolls flat, would take a glued tub, is indesctructible and would last forever and is half the cost of the Rapha.

I haven't experimented, but it may mount to saddle rails using the standard closing strap, or could be modified with a toe clip or bit of velcro strip.

  • I use a jimi for cash and cards and a small ziplock bag (from zpvit vits) for my phone
