  • Whilst not strictly Rapha related - has anyone seen a copy of "The Peloton" by Timm Kolnn? (Rouleur Books)
I would like to know if it warrants £50? The Special Edition is £200!?
I want to take my old man something pretty special for Christmas when i go to see them in Seattle, and this sounds pretty good.

More shots on Koelln's site. Some great portraits there. Not sure I'd pay £50 for it though...

  • you might think that but from my personal experience a hood keeps your ears warm.

coming from me whose ears stick out a lots more due to wearing a little gadget in it, it does help keep my ears warm.

  • @pistaboy - depends if your dad likes books of cycling photography or not. Personally speaking, I think it's a lot of money for a coffee table book that you'll flick through a couple of times then lose on a shelf somewhere.

On the positive side, like all Rapha/Rouleur printed products, it'll hold, if not increase in value over time.

  • thanks andyp - a coffee table book is what i'd like to get him, but i'll take a look at some other stuff too. Being over in the states, he can show it off to some of his cycling chums....

Oh - and thanks Hellomiles - thats helpful.

  • Pistaboy - see if there are any copies of Le Metier left - they published some of that in rouleur and it was actually pretty good to read, in addition to nice photos

  • Yeah, nice - just been looking at that. Worth a peek then?

  • yeah - i think probably better than just photography. I personally found the written content they published in Rouleur really interesting

  • Well, thanks again Dan. Better price too!

  • You're welcome :)

  • You thought Torm were sailing a bit close to Rapha's designs? You'd not seen Monho;

  • Hah! Korean eh? make sense since they can't really be touched, much like the fake Geekhouse.

Niche market. Car books are the worst offenders, they get away with it because car people spend so much indulging their car love, £50-100 on a book seems cheap. They're also routinely some of the most repulsive objects printed on paper since the latest Mister Farouki's Pizza Palace menu in Redditch.

Although tbf the production values on The Peloton look commendable.

  • Within a fortnight of getting a piece of Rapha clothing, news has come in that I'm being featured in the pages of French GQ in January. Is anyone out there who could get a copy and scan? I'm the idiot with the moustache and the bike at L'Eroica...

It's only a matter of time now before I can quit the 9-to-5 and model boxer shorts for a living, right? Right. Pot bellies sell, that's a fact.

  • Or newsagent on Old Compton Street

  • Sparky, I'm going to France in a couple days time, will pm'd you once I find a french GQ with your face plastered all over it like a Jordan.

  • Cheers fella. Don't think I made the front page this time, seems like I'm a small pic in the L'Eroica feature. I'm wearing a navy jersey, silly 'tache and I have a Legnano hanging off my shoulder, Like a Boss.

  • If you could upload a snap I would love you long time. I'm going to Paris next weekend, but can't wait that long.

  • Sparky is David Niven.
I'll have my ca$h now please.

  • HA! Thanks guys. Bit embaressing...

  • Not embarrassed enough...

  • Strong look there Sparky

  • I was getting into the spirit of L'Eroica. It's not like I go down to the newsagent for a pint of milk like that or anything...
