I went for a black one, Sparky. It matches both winter and polka dot hats better.
It's also easier to match with accessories like bags and shoes... -

I put a satin stripe down my top tube, and one up and down my jersey, today, now that I have my Gentleman's Cap.
I also have some mauve crushed-velvet shoes covers too, which rather set-off the whole affair nicely.

I ain't joking.
Paul Smith polka dot hat is the bestest hat I've ever owned. Fits lie a lush tight underpants and it's waterproof.OK, I feel dirty, but damn I look fine.

Nor was I - I have the very same in the Gentleman's Cap version. Identical save for the pink edge to the stripe.
I too, look like a God of All that Has Been and Will Be.

Well it's impractical, you'll never keep it clean!
I have a grey one. It's good - if it's cold and wet you'll love it.
As it gets cold you can use it with layers when it's not raining as a general purpose riding jacket.
It's very impressively warm for something so thin (it folds up nicely), but this is also it's downside. If you like riding fast, you can't really wear it much before November, as you'll end up a big sweaty mess. When you start wearing it for the season start off with just a base layer underneath and go from there.
But basically I love it long time.
nice one, i would never get cream, grey is more my colour, but thanks for the review, im gonna get one at the weekend me thinks

But I'm about to draw a line here. No Rapha jackets. No gloves. No washbags.
My bib shorts were £14 form TKMaxx.
OK, maybe I will get a merino bundle (baselayers), because they make nice tops.
And maybe a pink shirt for the summer if I feel adventurous.
Nothing more. -

My Merino base was from TK Maxx; scrum bargain. But no, I have an Exte-onda jacket - faaaaar more cool and exclusive at this time of year. Only warm obviously. And of late I have taken to wearing contrasting leg warmers and shorts, thus avoiding the need for bespoke winter legwear, though the full winter bibs I have are Fila; few label points there I suspect, though they are excellent in quality, construction and fit.
Also tricky wearing my Condor stuff now. It's all pre-Rapha, but now carries and association anyway. What to do...

My Rapha softshell has already started to fall apart after 4 months of use. Fail.
-
• #4461
Send it back for repairs. I'd like to see it with patches on the elbows.

Anybody got the knitted hat that they don't mind putting pictures up of?

Surely he'd want a new one? If I was spending £240 on a garment and it's falling apart after 4 months I'd be livid.
I guess we can change the thread title to; Rapha, a bit pricey and shit?

It's not the elbows that need repairing - all the stitching has come out from the cuffs and the extended cuff things.. rubbish. I also think it's pretty shameful to sell a 250 quid jacket with pit zips that aren't windproof. Generally I think it's a nice jacket, but Rapha just don't care about technical details like people like Gore.
I actually asked on of their designers once why they don't use sealed zips or welded seams - and basically got a 'that would cost more' reply that left me with the impression that they don't really care about tech stuff as long as people keep "shelling" out (getme?).
@pistaboy, don't buy that hat, they look terrible in person and they stretch out of shape all over the place, get the merino winter hat - it's a winner

You're welcome - apparently it gets really heavy when wet and take ages to dry out too. Plus the other one is a tenner cheaper no?

Don't own the Winter Hat, but perhaps the R+PS has similar finish?
To be honest, that Sugoi Wallaroo I sold was much warmer, the fit was better, it covered my ears better and the finish and feel was nicer. Surprise surprise!

Having been on the receiving end of a lot of Rapha gear from lovely friends and from the company itself I should probably write a comprehensive review of everything I've got at some point- most of the content of this thread is hyperbole or hearsay.
Some stuff they make is great and totally worth the money and other stuff is just a scam.

Constructive feedback in the Rapha thread, who would have thought...
