Good Bezos rant and I absolutely agree. That said, Evri and Rapha should be doing better, but there's been a lot of complications culminating over the last months - plus RM postal strikes will have a knock on effect for other parcel carriers.
There is also a note about how busy the warehouse is above the basket in checkout. Personally, anything I would order from any company between the 10th Dec and mid Jan I would take delivery dates with a huge pinch of salt; if it turns up in time then I consider myself lucky.
If it's been significantly beyond the shipping estimate (which is different to a delivery estimate) maybe contact customer service and there's a chance they might offer some recompense. -

Overall we as western consumers need to expect less given the circumstance. These guys are under immense pressures, not paid that well and they have just phased out (I think) zero hours contracts. Nothing really changes in your life if your pro team bib arrives couple of days later or a week later. It is the price we have to pay for killing the high street.
The person who delivers Evri around us is excellent, even in RM strikes the only deliveries we were getting promptly were from them.

this, very much this.
Our Evri guy is also great. Or I assume he is as nothing have ever gone missing

I’ve never had any issues with Hermes/Evri or Royal Mail. I assumed the delays were on Raphas end, picking/dispatching the orders. But I know nothing.

I cannot believe the entitlement of people giving out about an order made in post-Christmas sale not being posted yet, especially when it’s within the stated timeframe still.

Sorry I'm not trying to have a go at anyone. I've made more Poorly Organised Dad purchases on Amazon than I'm happy with. I just meant to say that getting the kind of service we "expect" you have exploit army-levels of people. Certainly most logistics companies have unfair working practices, but no company has changed people's expectations (including mine) of retail service. And it's good to remember that it's all built on straight-up exploitation and non-unionised and zero-hours contracts

Amazon are sorting the issue of workers on zero hours or casual contracts at three of its warehouses in the UK.

Will Pro Team bibs arrive more quickly in the metaverse?
I look forward to Amazon’s finest troll, which will be a digital high street with all the community benefits we now lament. We’ll connect with unbelievably helpful chat bots at the checkouts, unwittingly revealing all our personal information, like we used to in the corner shop, but this time it will be packaged up and sold to Big Whatever to prey on our insecurities. 🤗

There was a piece on BBC breakfast this morning about evri being rubbish, specifically Chew valley.

But to what extent, do you no longer purchase with companies who uses Evri?
Significantly. I've only placed one order with Rapha in the last few years and significantly fewer with Wiggle, who used to be my go-to place for ordering bike parts, due to their use of Evri/Hermes. It's not the only reason or the only factor, but it's a significant one.

I started reading this in Patrick Bateman voice, from the monologue about encouraging a return to traditional moral values.

absolutely second that. i also don't shop anymore with london/local stores who don't offer in store pick-up.
It's generally a sign that they have partenered with agressive warehousing contractors. -
• #37517
Not necessarily - my wife runs a number of shops that have an online store, with in house warehousing on site but can't offer click and collect because of the stock holding system.

Question on Evri at PMQs today as well as getting the “Hi, there’s a delay with the delivery of your Rapha Racing parcel” E-mail.
Something something “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” something something

Was looking at the pro team rain jacket yesterday, price was £134 from £220, looked again today and they have put the price up to £154.
Edit: ignore me, confused it with the winter jacket

Is DPD Hermes?

No, Evri are what was Hermes

So you think a massively wealthy company that charges a King's ransom for their elite products and advertises 7-10 days for shipping of said product, is actually entitled to take 17 days... and the person who has paid for the advertised shipping (and product) isn't allowed to be slightly miffed that their item doesn't turn up in the alloted time?
Is that what you're saying?
Because its utter nonsense, if it is....
Of course if you're being sarcastic, I've missed that entirely....

The delivery is by DPD then.
The gold standard of delivery is obviously Amazon. It has widely distorted our expectations. Look what they've done to retailers online and IRL, how they treat their staff, and the impact they have on the entire supply chain to achieve this kind of delivery service. It's absolutely fucking disgusting. Unbelievably dependable free next day delivery comes at an enormous cost. If you look at the parcel volume trend over the last 10 years the growth is nuts, and any normal logistics company is going struggle to compete and deliver the same standard if you don't have a fuckover-everyone-at-every-possible-opportunity approach that Amazon have.
