  • whats with the band on the left arm?

    Distinctive branding.

I don't own any Rapha stuff primarily because of the association that the band has in my mind with the Nazis. It seems like such a fundamental design oversight. Or maybe I am just living in the past.

    Could be.

    Thoughts?

    Don't sweat the small stuff.

  • As I understood, prior to specific design team/national/leaders jerseys, a ribbon or fabric armband was used for identification. Original TdF leader was indicated by a green armband, last rider a red one. The design is a nod to the heritage of the sport - thought it was common knowledge, but will check a few resources when I have a sec to dig out.

  • I always thought it odd that it wasn’t on the right arm, acting as a minor visibility improver to passing drivers.

    #britainonly.

  • As with other details, acknowledging Continental Europe as the home of road cycling (or closer to the heart, depending who you talk to).

  • Don’t you mean America? 🤡

  • By gods Campag toolkit!!

  • On actual clothing, I recently picked up one of the 'trail windblock' jerseys in black. Its really nice. very comfortable and feels nice riding in.

  • Bit warm for it now perhaps but any interest in a brand new with tags Pro Team Insulated Gore Tex jacket? Size large

  • here's some details on the armband origin

    https://www.cyclist.co.uk/in-depth/1409/history-of-the-tour-de-france-jerseys
The inauguration of the yellow jersey was a gradual and partly contentious process (this is cycling, after all) that Tour historian Barry Boyce has spent a lot of time researching.
‘In the early days of the Tour, there were much smaller pelotons than those you get today, so the leader just wore a green armband,’ he says. ‘But as the popularity of the Tour increased, journalists and riders complained of not being able to indentify the race leader on the road. Belgian Philippe Thys was said to have laid claim to wearing a yellow jersey when he was leading the race in 1913'

    And here are some great images of the winner of the first (1903) winner, and the bike and components he would have been using;

Couple of armbands in some of the images, but I'm now doubting the idea I posted above that teams & nationalities were signified by pinned on armbands in a race ...I'd definitely seen images previously, but perhaps these were national champion or winners bands awarded on the podium, and not actually raced in. ...all part of some good myth and mystery!

  • Was actually Scheybeler who was the fascist then (also joke)

  • Also got a PT lightweight gore Tex jacket in XS that is worn but excellent condition. One of the PT bars heat transfers has come off but the fabric and rest of the jacket show no sign of wear

  • And some Pro Team carbon saddles which I tried and failed to get my bum comfortable on

  • Oui, i'd be up for one. They are made by fabric, right ?

  • Selle Italia I believe

  • So after an absolute disappointment in Rapha's cargo bibs I'm thinking about PNS cargo bibs. Has anyone got them? I also can't find many reviews of them unlike with Rapha.

  • how much!

  • Could get Assos for that

  • A bumbag is a good alternative.

  • I did 190km this weekend on my Core cargo bibs and they were not comfy.

  • Don’t do it.

  • Normal bibs required.

If you don’t have any I take your point.
