I think I will avoid Giro (and others) going forward.
It’s easily done and I’m not wild about giving Vista money (now I know more about the company).
The Radavist having a non-position is unsurprising. He is in fairly deep.
If he were to take a stance, he could quite possibly make a difference (to the recruitment and retention of socially-conscious talent in Vista cycling brands) that leaves the gun brands (slightly) compromised ... not sure he realises that.

Doesn’t think it will make a significant enough financial impact on Vista, while boycotting may have long term impact in terms of finances and relationships for Radavist.
Made more difficult if you have friends in those businesses, where a boycott may result in them losing their jobs. -

You sum up his piece pretty well.
The arguements being;
- It would be difficult.
- I don’t know how effective it would be.
- It would be difficult.
Kinda weak imho. But it’s not my business on the line.

Rapha. Nice but a bit shooty?

He could make a difference, he could put those people out of a job. If suddenly everyone stops buying Giro stuff you really think that's going to put a dent in Vista's profits? All that would happen is they see it's no longer profitable and close/asset strip the company and make more guns/ammo which are profitable/

If sales suddenly nosedived as the result of a boycott, I'd expect to see some form of sell-off/management buyout to someone who wasn't linked to the gun trade in the same way. I mean, these businesses were clearly attractive enough to Vista that they bought them in the first place; if they become liabilities, wouldn't they try and get what they can from them?

Either way would result in job losses and upset.
If people want to lobby arms companies then they should do that, harming or killing Giro is the equivalent of trying to take down a dragon with a box of matches.
-
• #30759
Doesn't have to be either/or, though, and I appreciate it sucks for Giro employees. I know we're all compromised as capitalist consumers, but if the next time I'm shopping for gear I have the choice between a Vista and a non-Vista company, that's going to factor into my decision.

If suddenly everyone stops buying Giro
This is not a realistic possibility. What is realistic is that employees may prefer to work elsewhere.
-
• #30761
Ah ok, so you don't like the employee's parent company so they should all go get different jobs. Right.

Yes, which is not nice but is normal.
If people want to lobby arms companies ...
That’s not a thing. Hit the shared price or nothing changes.
-

I’m not sure I buy in to the line that they weren’t bought for their profitability. Merely diversifying their portfolio.
Assuming this diversity isn’t profit orientated, the motivator for diversity is to surely seem more like a sport company, of which guns is “just” an element.
In such context a boycott seems an appropriate action, demand for such products won’t just disappear... -

Pro race cape. Boil in the bag or a bit nicer?
-
• #30765
Nicer. I get hot really easily usually but the pro race cape always seems to keep a nice temperature.

Not at all. They will have their own ideas (about funding the NRA and where they want to work). Prospective employees also.

Again, you really think boycotting Giro or Bell will do anything to Vista? In 2015 they had a profit of $619 million.
-
• #30768
And how does boycotting the company do anything to add to this? People will leave if they can and want to, you only risk hurting those that want to leave but can't.
-
• #30769
And the zip cuffs?
Do they have a folding bit under neath orjust straight in to the sleeve? -

Yes mate. Even if it’s just one less helmet.
That’s how it works :)

The only result would be putting hard working people in the bike industry out of jobs and the real bad guy won't be affected. That's what I'm trying to get across.

What about British arms sales to Saudi? Headed up by the government itself.
-
• #30773
Folding bit under.
It’s not too boil in the bag. Good jacket.
-
• #30774
Ok, tempted as it’s on sale.

The only result
I guess we’ll agree to disagree on this bit.
Randonee shorts are the only shorts I can buy in my “normal” size. They’re really stretchy
