fuck, thats amazing! I wonder if it will work with a slightly upright drop bar set up ..
-
• #29503
It does.
And the magnet loops that secure the front of the cape to the bike mean that your legs remain dry (if you have mudguards to stop your feet and cankles getting soaked).
It's pretty ace.
In 5 years, I've used it twice.
It's hardly lightweight and carryable, takes the space under the saddle where lights and camera go. And frankly unless it's torrential there's just no need for this. In light rain through to torrential it's just excessive.
My Gore waterproof I carried everywhere and used until it's basically failed and worn out. My Brooks cape is still as new, because it just never gets used.

bitcoincash, yes. -

Can only imagine these are fantastic with a tail wind, and absolute bugger with a headwind.

Actually really good in all torrential rain conditions.
I was genuinely very impressed.
I personally just felt a bit daft in it in anything less than a torrential downpour.
Plus, I wouldn't carry it unless I 100% knew it was going to rain like that. So I never had it on me when I was caught out in a downpour, that was always my Gore shell.

Is it breathable? I have a carradice on the commute and I wear work clothes so as long as I arrive dry its fine.
-
• #29515
It's waxed cotton.
-
• #29516
It's not against the skin, and there's a lot of air underneath. Breathability isn't an issue because the air isn't trapped against your body.

Ponchos are an absolute wet weather game-changer. I have a Euro-style cheap one I bought in Germany and it rules for both commuting and waiting around at races

I don't mean to be a LFGSS deal sniper, but it looks like the Brooks ponchos (or similar to the one mentioned previously) are on sale here: http://www.brooksengland.com/en_uk/outlet/oxford-raincape-jb-s-size-1.html
Edit: In sizes: S,M,L,XL

I've got a Carradice Duxback cape, and find that I will get wet on my shoulders when using it; not quite sure if it's the fabric wetting through or just the fact that waxed cotton isn't very breathable. Still the best solution for commuting in the very wet IMO - I just make sure I wear wool under it. Should be fine on upright drop bars - depending on the length you might have to arrange it so as not to block a fork-crown-mounted light.

Late to the party as always but if anyone else has one of those codes going I could find a good use for one.

I've just bought a ShowersPass Skyline Softshell for £43 posted from the bay of e, hoping it rains this w/e so i can see how much it can cope with. Thought about the Elite 2.1 which is supposed to be the daddy when it comes to rain proof jackets, the Elite 'pro' version is a lighter weight and suspect less waterproof variant but good enough for team katusha.

• #29523
The new core winter jacket - are they basically the same as the old pro team jacket / training jacket ?

I still have two discount codes going if anyone needs...
Because @Skülly isn't their target market.
