  • Wore some core bibs for the first time this weekend. 10/10 would use again.

  • Really?

The only thing that Rapha hasn't yet displaced has been my Assos bibs.

Are the Rapha ones finally up there?

  • they're still listed on their website as a new item.. both the empires and republics.

  • Well, my point was that I am used to Pro Team bibs and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the core bib at such a 'low' price point - comparatively speaking.

  • ^Advertiser spam. Ban him.

  • Love the Pro Team bibs, don't get on with the Core bibs. The main part of the bib is nice, good pad, more relaxed fit than the Pro team. However the leg gripper band of doom lets them down. Impossible to get on without turning the leg gripper material up, and once on the elastic backing does a poor job of keeping it tight leaving it baggy at the bottom.

It's like the main part of the bib was designed with the usual Rapha attention to detail, and then they got the work experience lad on secondment from the Lidl cycling range to do the leg gripper

  • Anyone got (an opinion on) the double weave trousers?
They feel nice. And look kinda smooth. They'd be an addition to my wardrobe, but every so often when I think I'll start dressing like a grown up (like the year I bought chelsea boots and slim fit jeans) it turns out I just won't, even if the stuff fits.

I agree. Just tried my pair on and I'm pretty sure bibshorts shouldn't be flared. Maybe a defective batch with baggy elastic? I have the classic and pro team thermal bibshorts in the same size (small) and they fit fine.

  • Turn them up?? I've never had to do that, even with £20 Wiggle ones.

  • You must all have chicken legs. My core shorts fit like a charm. Like @JB I'm seriously impressed with them, especially as they are, relatively speaking, cheap.

  • You must all have chicken legs

The website should carry a warning: The Core range is designed for the more portly rider, not suitable for climbers.

  • If you're tall and thin core is tricky.

  • @andyp

@Señor_Bear just insinuated you have a descenders physique

  • I'm 1m 83 and 67 kgs, so am definitely not portly.

With the Classic bibs I've always gone for a Large, but am a Medium in the Core range.

  • He'd have to stay with me on the climbs to check out my descending.

  • Guess I'd need an XS then. I'm going to return for a refund though.

  • I like them! You might need to go down to the store and try out the sizing as apparently you need to go down a size for these new trousers to fit.

  • You would!
I tried them on. My usual size fits perfectly. This means I've gone up a size...

However the new jeans were huge. Think they were probably the 'relaxed' fit but still, the waist was way big. Last time I tried rapha jeans was the Rayburn collab and I couldn't even get them past my thighs!

I didn't try the cotton trousers, which look alright and cheaper... wondering whether I should. But not really into the colours, prefer the grey. And think the double weave ones are more different/special. Which is... good sometimes.

  • Radonnee or touring shorts?

For all year round, over bibs, on the commute.

  • Randonee. Has pockets.

  • Anyone had any issues with core shorts? Apparently mine are a bit see through 😑

  • Which bit?

  • They're not actually see-through. It's just a shadow.

  • all of them? Although the rear panel being translucent on the bike is the real issue.
