Any news on the London sample sale?
-
• #25531
Yes. There isn't one.

Looks like the designer is trying to translate the physical suffering and mental privations of doing back to back RAAM and Transcontinental rides followed by a few thousand hill reps up the Madone into a visual sensation.
Truly discomforting to look at and an ideal gift for only those you hate the most in life. The wine and mint green is bad but that pink stripe through the middle is like someone sticking a bit of bubblegum to your anal beard then forcing you to climb the stairs three at a time.
I'm sure it'll sell well, but I'll be cursing every time I see a fat sweaty gent heaving around on a Cervelo wearing it. The irony is that wee Fausto looked like a proper stylish cunt-put him in this and he'd look like he'd been serving in a 1950's drive through in Vegas.

So guy in shop was bullshitting?
Charming -
• #25535
What did the guy in the shop look like? He can't get people's hopes up like that, he must be stopped!
-
• #25537
Maybe he said Glasgow and you heard Plaistow?

I'm slightly overweight, ride a Cervelo, and got bought one of these as a present. I might also sweat from time to time when riding a bike. Is that close enough ?

Really want one of these!
Any idea how?

Time travel. Either that or wait for the season that it's appropriate to...

Good try but unless you maybe tie dye it in the most clashing colours you can find it'll remain unoffensive.
The thing I don't get is why the need for "traditional Neapolitan colours" in this most "Italian sartorial excellence" when Coppi was from Piedmont and Bartali from Florence. No Naples in the equation, so poor justification for such a rancid colourway, innit?

I'm perhaps being overly cynical about the degree of uncritical materialism Rapha clobber inspires in some people but there's also the issue of the basic tastelessness of your average punter ( see golf wear above) that makes me think it will still be snapped up in the next Archive sale.

This is cycling we're talking about...

Verdict is in, pack jacket > wool jacket. Loopback is still the best trouser.
-
• #25546
Cotton > Loopback IMO
-
• #25547
If you must double weave > cotton but I dont have sprinter thighs :(

The new 'proper' denim coming out, what cut is it? I've given up and ordered another loopback. Good timing given we have skipped summer this year.

Picked up a couple of brevet gilets in Evans today for £30 each- randomly in a bargain bucket!
-
• #25550
They'll be £15 each at that London Sample Sale you were talking about. Should've waited... bruv.
Actually, I remember buying a couple of gilets for my colleagues at the last sample sale I went to for £10 each.
I keep my phone and credit card in the brevet card pocket
