The advice from Rapha is (or used to be) to carry a Rain Jacket.
The back isn't waterproof at all and the front will let in eventually.

Thought as much. But I was pleasantly surprised at how it performed in a 5 minute downpour. Completely dry on arms and chest, obviously another 5 minutes and it probably would have been a different story.

I did a mid tempo ride to Oxford in the rain last winter. Was a bit cold at first due to stop-start getting out of west london, but wasn't concerned with staying dry. Was warm enough that by the time we made it out properly my back was steaming, which was also a pretty good indication of its breath ability.
TL:DR Not waterproof but warm

Hmm I am happy to get wet (not a euph). As long as it doesent become heavy due to wet-ness. The warmth will be covered by PT softshell base layer.

Cool I'll wear tomorrow and see!

Weather looks fine for it. Was going to suggest packing another shell layer in case of stops, but recon with the PT Softshell you should be fine. And no, doesn't get heavy really, as the moisture just breathes back out again

In current temps, if there are only a few short showers it copes ok, you get wet but it's fairly windproof, so not too cold. Constant rain in these temps, or showers if it's really cold, take a shell.

7 hours of riding today. Headwinds, 2 hours of solid rain. Gabba + merino base = perfect, all day.

Does anyone have experience of the wind jacket? I have vouchers to spend and could do with a stowable rain jacket I reckon.
Got gabba + PTJ + softshell so pretty covered for winter but a pocketable outer would be useful. Also tempted by the brevet, but again, don't really need another LS Jersey.
I could do with bibs more but can't see myself paying Rapha prices. Unless PT bibs come down to £100 (I seem to think they did last year). -

Ha, @umop3pisdn troll. You missed the bit where you wore a waterproof for three hours.

Get the wind jacket pronto

Waterproof!? Only waterproof layer I had on was my skin.

The windproof is lovely.
That us all.

Probably set on the Wind jacket, as a pocketable option for the rest of the year. Don't suppose there's any point asking if anyone has a discount code knocking about.

Give it a week, only a fool buys in the first week of the Rapha sale.
-
• #23892
Yeah, I know... As I'm a medium/large I run the risk of anything I want going out of stock. What happened to the stock display things that Rapha used to have?
-
• #23893
Size wise - Medium in PTJ (old version), Large in softshell (though it's a bit baggy - could probably fit a medium), Large in Gabba:
Medium Wind jacket?

Do you want my voucher?

If you have one that'd be amazing!
-
• #23896
Bollocks, out of stock in Medium.

Only a fool waits to buy in the Rapha sale

Ha. Indeed.

Can anyone advise on Wind Jacket sizing? Is the Large actually 'Large'? Someone above was saying that they've made everything smaller.
I wore it in a short down pour (with a backpack so my back was dry accept sweat...) and I was really surprised by the waterproofing on the front. Not sure how it would last in a long downpour though. And then without a backpack you'd get a wet back... I don't think the back is waterproof is it?
