[quote=BlueQuinn;828353]Rapha Fixed shorts test - score 50%.
On the plus side, they look good,
they do fat bastard sizes,
and the shorts are still great to ride in even when completely soaked with heavy rain.

Yep, thankfully :(
YepHaven't had any problems with the padding, but fortunately I come ready equipped, and no buttons falling off for me. Will have to find something else to do of a lunchtime then :)
They are, a touch on the expensive side though. Just a thought.

They are on the expensive side, now you mention it.
Zed/Ved: Berwick Street probably. Or head east where there's a button shop opposite Whitechapel Sainsbury's -

Rapha Fixed shorts test - score 50%.
On the plus side, they look good, they do fat bastard sizes, and the shorts are still great to ride in even when completely soaked with heavy rain. Must be the fancy Shoeller fabric.
On the minus side, the padded bit isn't padded enough, and one of the leg buttons is not stitched on properly and will fall off soon. If I had paid £125 for a pair of shorts I'd bloody expect hand-sewn buttons. In fact I paid £45 for them and I still expect buttons not to fall off.I've got some and quite like them, but they have the usual trouser problem for me - if the waist fits, the arse and thighs are too tight, if the arse fits, the waist is clown-trousers loose. They seem nicely made though and were much cheaper in Palo Alto Bicycles when the dollar was worth fuck all.
Tour of Britain jersey though (bought several years ago at a sample sale at Velorution) is smashing - comfy, has lasted well, much nicer looking than most cycling jerseys.
Dinah got me a bunch of Fixed tees and some softshell gloves for Christmas - all good, all things I wouldn't pay full price for (and that she didn't - sample sale again).
I can't really understand all the Rapha hate on here (Rosiebendix's excepted) - they're a priceyish brand of niceish stuff. If you come across it cheap, it's good value. If you pay full price, it's just like Assos, Nalini, Woolistic or whatever - nice if you can afford it but nonessential.

So can you do it now or still not?
I notice that selection behaviour isn't as in normal texts, probably owing to how the page is built, but try playing around with it some and you should see how it works.
nah I'm on IE -4 or something. Work won't give me the admin password to download stuff so I can't upgrade and I'm too lazy to make a fuss about it.
-
• #2056
are you seriously on IE4?

Depending on how fascistical your work sysadmin is you might want to have a look at http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

Probably IE5 or 5.5 - a terrifying number of people are stuck with ancient IEs for hysterical raisins.
http://blog.kizoom.com/2009/03/happy-birthday-internet-explorer-5.html - 0.5% is still an awful lot of unfortunate sods.

IE six at work here.

good point well made. Rapha claim that the buttons are hand carved by naked virgins on a tropical island though, which is probably why.

• #2062
Dancing james told me they were made from chrushed down coconut husks and moon rock.

Belt up
;) -
• #2064
A belt on cycling troos is a bit self-defeating though, innit. I went for the smaller size and just put up with them being a bit tight on the arse.

i like the new rapha T

Sorry, my arse disagrees. 200k+ per day for a week makes these essential.
Rapha is too expensive and non-effective to wrap my buttocks in it.
-
• #2067
But it's perfect for romanticising your commute. You can't really put a price on that.

For that use, I'd agree. FWIW, the Santini Twistgel bibs are very, very good for the money and can be had for cheapish.

womens stuff coming soon
i am neither a cock or a tit but am an utter cunt, hence I wear rapha
-
• #2070
its been a while (3 weeks) since a rapha thread
in the interests of not starting new threads i'd dredge this one
it might be a bit expensive if you are a bit poor
re small sizes - they do make clothes in small and xsmall but this stuff sells fast to a combination of small european men, women and the japanese

I saw some samples of the new Raphaelle range. The cut would probably work for men with moobs too, as long as they got their moobs via the kind of gustatory indulgence that stems from a well-paid career.
