Long sleeve base layer, Brevet jersey, Winter jersey, winter hat, bibs+winter tights, lobster mitts.
Fine and dandy apart from Toes Of Death
Wear some shoes and socks next time?

rapha winter gloves are pretty lightweight for real winter and people with poor circulation, deep winter is a minimum.
imo, at roughly the same price point, assos fugu gloves offer better windproofing and better cuts. -

Which Winter Gloves are you comparing to the Fugu? The AW'14 Rapha gloves are now a heavier weight fabric than '13 (same material at the Hardshell Jacket), which is comparable. They also have improved panelling on the palm for better dexterity, and a refined cuff with more stretch to eliminating the need for a closure. Personally, I didn't like the cut of the Fugu's, I found them relatively flat and unshaped for bars/shifters.
'Winter' is a relative term; I was riding with someone a few months back who lives in Ottowa. He said it's not unusual to commute in -30º in his winter! (...and for that reason, 'Wintner Gloves' might not be the best product title!)

I m comparing the fugus to the rapha winter gloves, which both have a similar construction / thickness /price, ie one inner layer and one outer with no padding. i found the fugus definitly have a better outer fabric, more water and wind proof.
Maybe as you say the new model is now better, but as it stood last year, one would have had to get the rapha deep winter to get the same protection as the fugus. -

You're right. I will look into the matter further.

Thoughts on the team sky vintage Jersey?
I normally pour scorn on non team members wearing team kit, but it's nice and (comparatively) not too pricey.....but it's got sky on it..... -
• #18834
Then get the Imperial Work version instead, they look smarter.

But doesn't sound like it's for wearing on a bike?

Kings of Pain Jersey: Too thick/warm for an Australian summer?
-
• #18837
The colour and extra fabric on the rear wouldn't really help. I get hot enough in a black pro team jersey in the Italian summer...I couldn't even imagine wearing sportwool then let alone black sportwool.

I know it's the wrong time of year for you, but nice and not pricey:

Ah, but that's the vintage one to the power of two!
I've got the version in old gold and love it, and I would rather the IW one, cos it would make me look like a spender, but the sky one seems the same for sixty earth pounds instead.....and I'm not earning london money!
-
• #18840
Ah didn't see that, why is it so cheap? it's even the same fabric.
-
• #18841
It might be a fake. It's from China after all.

:0)
That's my thinking.....I might just get it. That way, I only have to add a tenner to my voucher, instead of another £70 or so that would be tight at this time of year..... -
• #18843
I wouldn't touch anything coming from China at a bargain price - they're probably good replicas but still....
Ebay often has a LOT of Team Sky kit for sale, all at bargain prices and all from China which always looks suspicious to me. Although for that price, it might be worth buying one to see.

That jersey is a fake.
Rapha do not have any wholesalers or retailers in China.

Castelli gabba sizing vs rapha sizing anyone?
I'm an L in pro team stuff but nearer M in regular stuff. -
• #18846
My small gabba is way longer in the arm and body than my rapha ls jersey. It's similar in fit to my small club jersey.
-
• #18847
Is that l/s or s/s? Bit torn between them.
Convertible looks nice but a bit too pricey

Been offline for a few days, all the dam medium long sleeve jerseys are gone bah!
I wanted a medium as i wanted wear it over other jerseys as almost a jacket.
-
• #18849
My gabba is short sleeved.
It's pretty versatile with sportful norain arm warmers, or on it's own for wet races in spring.
I've not used it at all through winter.
-

I was thinking the short sleeved one would be more versatile. I run quite hot and have had real problems managing heat and sweat whilst doing intervals out on the bike recently - seem to end up soaking wet and freezing in the last hour of rides. Was hoping that a gabba, plus a baselayer and a packable shell would get me through pretty much anything.
Poor circulation causes this only to happen in my right foot. Unless the rain starts. Then both my hands and feet become useless blocks of ice. And speaking of hands, Rapha Winter gloves did nothing for me today. Should have double gloved?
