Decathlon silk glove liners currently on half price which makes them £3, they are not the most high-class product but mine have survived a year or two of ocassional use.

Silk is warm but a bit crap when wet. Would go merino if possible.

Actually on the bike - but the context is the silly 2.8 mile commute I have at the moment in full civies, so I'm not going to be full gassing it. If I break a sweat I'm doing it wrong. Boardman would approve.

Fuck. Yes.

Still not wearing gloves. I'm hard. Yeah.

Silk vs Merino
Merino is better on nearly every front. There are only 2 reasons to choose silk. One is skin irritation from the wool. Which is why silk base layers are popular amoungst the sensitive of skin. The other is volume. If you use the outer glove a lot without liners, and it has a snug fir. SIlk is more likely to fit under.
My silk liners are mainly a saddle bag item. I chuck them on under fingless mitts for descents, and if the weather changes. I've had half a dosen or so finger breaks over the years. So my finger freeze quickly.

If I wanted to buy the Rapha Essentials Pouch, but didn't want to pay Rapha prices, what should I be looking for?
I basically just want a neat, small case to organise some bits and pieces in my bag. Been looking at make-up bags and such but not really finding anything suitable. It's such a simple design I can't believe no-one else has produced something similar before?

Muji travel pouches - plain black or navy, about £2-5, many different sizes, good for a toolkitand
Small disposable 3x5 inch plastic ziploc bags will fit an iphone and cards/cash, will be waterproof and you can still see your phone when it's inside the bag so no need to pull it out the bag to find out about your ppi insurance. Plus bags of 100 are under £5 on ebay
Toolkit in one pocket, phone/cards in the other and pump/food in the middle.
done
both are better

Yep, Muji are the one for little cases.

The 30% discount for womens products works on the essentials case, not a bad saving. Not sure how long the code will be up for now though.

Finished on the 6th, unfortunately. I was aware, but even at £30 I thought it stung a bit.
Everyone's recommendations have been perfect! Thanks so much. Those Mack ones especially look good for riding. @bmx_fred do you have a link for those little Muji pouches? Can't find them on their website...

they haven't got them on the website, but they do in store (at least they do at the one on Oxford St)

Just did a check, the code still works at the moment, makes it nice...
...but a bit less pricey.

I heart my Rapha murse.
The shit I get at every cafe by sandwich-bag scumbags is thinly veiled jealousy.

What's that? Is your phone sweaty? .....mine smells of leather and wealth.
