Anyone have a small black Classic Softshell they're willing to part with?

Some form of it will return. But it's going to take me writing an adequate HTML > Markdown convertor for it to happen.

Not really in the spirit of the thread, but maybe useful to someone:

I have one I'd quite like to swap for a PTJ. I find my softshell a bit too hot.

I have both the city rain jacket and race cape.
City jacket won't fold up. It's not designed for high tempo rides. I know use it as a casual rain jacket off the bike.
Race cape is the best rain jacket I've ever owned. It's a brilliant piece of kit. Will fold up to fit into my pro team jersey pocket. Aero fit. Dries quick when soaked through

nicely quoted :) i stole the cry wank fluff from uber gruber as he was dead against buying one... think he just bought one in the sale however :) i am 6ft 2 and slim to medium build and if i wore a tshirt or shirt or jumper underneath it it would hang far below the hem of the jacket and looked a bit shit/short so i returned it. lovely jacket and very snug and warm just didnt look right on me.

Thanks, sounds like the city jacket isn't really for me as I already have a jacket like that. Should prolly just htfu...

^Really handy jacket, throw it in a bag and ignore it until you need it.

I have unused small in red if you're interested.

Yeah the issue is I have a gore tex that fulfills that role - was hoping it was pocket storable to deal with ride London style hurricane rain. Shame the rain jacket should out!

proof you can wear a transfer jacket on the bike in the right conditions. Not pretty though!

Seriously though, I reckon I could have used one of those on some of the cold wet descents in the Alps last week.

Racecape for that- rolls up small, shove it in the middle pocket for the climb then put it on at the top

Normally, or the rain jacket, which I have, but it was 3.8 degrees and heavy rain descending off the Cormet de Roselend and (for me) that was/is not enough, although I should have packed warmer jerseys/baselayers and my rain jacket is pretty much worn out.
I actually had my PTJ back at the hotel, should've brought that. Fits in a jersey pocket, if you cram it.

• #17519
Really? Pick of PTJ being small.

Racecape doesn't make a good pillow while touring I imagine though

For all that money the taxi should have put the heating on.

I couldn't remember the French for 'cold' or 'I am still shivering' or 'get me the fuck off this mountain before I get hypothermia' unfortunately.
The hot bath I had at the hotel in Bourg Saint Maurice was the best bath I've ever had.
I've just ordered a new rain jacket (being XS, conveniently) after having a good LOL at the price of the rain cape. Even the rain jacket in the sale is too expensive, I think I paid £110 for my first one four of five years ago. Think this may be the last Rapha I buy for a while.

Has anyone got an old City Wind Jacket? (The transparent ones). - Always fancied one, but always thought they were amongst the most stupidly priced items that Rapha did. Were they actually any good at keeping out the wind & rain?

Yeah my thought, guess it's not worth it as a replacement for uniqlo down.
I keep wondering this.
What's the difference between the Uniqlo down jacket and all the other +£100 ones from the outdoor makes? I realise that you have the uber warm ones for insanely low temperatures, but the majority of the ones I saw when searching outdoor stores seemed to be the same *.
- except for the synthetic ones which I realise have an advantage in the damp

I got this. It's surprisingly good if you like a transparent jacket. Packs tiny and is breathable and keeps out rain surprisingly well. I got it in sale still overpriced but worth a punt.
