Rapha, nice but a bit pricey?

Went in the Rapha pop up shop in Majorca … espresso machiatto.

Hahaha we realised how ridiculous we must have looked to passers by, but no fucks given and all that. We were actually very glad we wore them in the end, the weather and visibility was appalling and the suffer faces a plenty.

Quite like my Hi-Viz.

Not sure why they made it so stiff and waterproof. Considering it has no arms and a mesh back. But for night riding on unlight roads it works really well. There is of course no silver bullet. But I'd like to see some twat driver look me in the eye and say 'sorry mate didnt see you' while I'm wearing it with my blindingly pink overshoes.

I'd also like to highlight that whilst I'm not tall, I'm not that short either. Robadob and tom15xw are just really tall...

The cheap hi viz gillets lose the reflective stuff in the wash.

As long it still retain it's wind and water resistance, I'm happy with it.

If anyone's in the market, the new Classic Mitts are a bit smaller than the old "Pro Team" ones. They fit about the same - only a tiny bit smaller. But the wrist opening itself is waaaaay tighter for some reason. I can already tell they're going to be a nightmare to get off after a long ride.

They have a bit more padding than the old ones. They also seem to have exactly the same weak spot, the thin soft material next to the leather palm. :-/

For this reason - I'm out. My old ones fell apart and when I sent them back for repair they mysteriously 'disappeared'. Stupidly didn't send recorded...

I've gone through two pairs of the old ones (neither were full price retail, hence not being able to send them back), both wore through that material at the base of the palm and at the side long before the rest of the mitt was wearing out. If these do the same then this time Rapha will be getting an earful / letterbomb.

I'd give up on them if I could find any others that were nearly as comfortable.

I have 3. Lost one so have two RH and one LH, and frustratingly the LH is the one that is going :/

I've held onto my old ones and thought about it but there's not much to attach a patch to. The hole is right up to the edge of the leather. Might be possible though.

I tried some non-leather Giro ones in a shop ages ago and thought they were ok, but not great, and a bit loose (I have pretty small hands for a big bloke). I'll have a look for those though.

I have the giro lx ones which are very nice but a little pricey. Have only done a couple of hundred miles with them so far so can't comment on the durability yet. So far, so good though

The LX ones seem to be of a quality similar to the GT Rapha ones. I picked up my pairs for £25 last year :)
