Just had a message from EBay that this item has been pulled from the site. No details given.
Strange, because looking at the jacket, I cant believe its fake. The tag was bare, with no item detail sticker on. Other than that I couldnt see a thing wrong with it. Its lovely, and I have no personal reason to be disatisfied. So I will keep and enjoy the jacket, untill further information is given.
Just a heads up.
Got mine too, along with a pair of Pro Team bibs from the same vendor. Both seem fine, although I haven't worn either yet.

^ What's the chance of those climber shoes being less $$ than the GT Shoes you think?
-
• #15360
The way lighter cycling parts are always cheaper as there's less material ?
-
• #15361
not true, they have to pay someone to sit and scrape off the extra material so it costs more.

Oops. Just bought a pair of pro team bibs from the Turkish ebay shop.

For the discerning mamil that isn't feeling the call of the road anymore.

With thoughts turning to spring, what's the forum wisdom on the Classic Wind Jacket vs. the transparent City Wind Jacket.
Clearly, one resembles a prophylactic more than the other, but other than that: breathability, durability?
-
• #15365
The City Wind is very packable and I often take one on rides.
-
• #15366
Thanks Señor B. How do you rate it in terms of breathability?
-
• #15367
its actually a pretty breathable jacket. it packs down very small and keeps the wind and showers out. Its very thin though so wont help at all in keeping cold out. I keep one in my bag for showers.

Thanks goonz. Have both from the sale, and am staring at the two of them, deciding which goes back.
Ah, the power.

Whatever happens, and I know you are all on the edge of your seats, I've at least learned what a French seam is.

I really rate the classic wind jacket, keeps light to middling rain out, stops the wind yet never feels boil in the bag and seems to breathe well. I also like the reflective strips on the wind jacket at night time.
So do you want a jacket that shows what you have on underneath, or would you prefer the outer colour of the classic wind jacket when it is required?

Ah, the power.
Id keep the classic jacket i think if it is just as packable...
Not too sure about the see through styling of the city jacket even though i have it.

Thanks James - the heir to the stowaway is clearly called classic for good reason.
I'm erring towards the city jacket, simply because its a bit easier to stow and, somewhat to my surprise, turns out I prefer the look. Just wondering if it's quite as functional.

Does it fold smaller?
-
• #15374
perhaps stuffs down to 1/2 to 2/3 the size of the classic (which is pretty packable, too).

How porous is it? I like the way the classic jacket keeps venting sweat really well, even in the rain.
I say this because I also have the Raeburn jacket which is lovely but a bit of a sweat collector.
The fibers themselves lose volume, and the properties of the fabric is lost.
But then wool loses some of its insulation, and if present, wicking abilities, when dirty. So it needs at least gentle washing.
