I had some prendas oversocks, still have some prendas lycra overshoes. They're a cycling staple for me.
The Rapha ones are just on my Xmas list. Not sure I'd pay the premium for pink otherwise.

I just dont see the point in them. I dont pay £300 for a pair of shoes to hide them under some fugly oversock.

Keeps them clean so that they are still white as a ... come summer.

I find most road shoes have too much ventilation for nordic riding even in the summer. I also just sold my last Bonts in near new condition. Because they had never been outside of an oversock.

Any one had any experience with the over socks... I don't like the idea of cutting my own cleat hole?
Rapha oversocks are very good and they're pretty tough. Prendas and DeFeet make great oversocks too which are cheaper.
I'm not a fan of the Rapha overshoes though - they're nice, pricey but holed within a few rides. (My PX ones lasted five years....)

Oversock are big socks you stick over yer shoes when it starts getting nippy.
You are all overthinking, along with overpaying.

Anyone think a cycling shoe should be made with no ventilation?
I have trainers with a shell front toe cap and during a very wet day I was surprised to find my socks and inside or shoe bone dry. Got me thinking most water gets in from the vents/mesh on the front of the shoe. If the top of the shoe was a shell type material they would be a little warmer and more waterproof.
Could be marketed as a autumn/winter shoe, might add a little more weight but would take that for more comfort.

Just wear merino socks, got the planet X merino socks and they have been a revelation so far, when it gets really cold my neoprene overshoes will be worn. should be perfect.

Northwave, Shimano and Sidi both make really good winter road shoes/boots and a lot of people switch to MTB shoes and SPDs for winter cycling.

Plenty of winter road shoes out there. But as its a bit dodgey riding a road bike under 0C, and with the desire to put your foot down more often when its icey. Most go over to MTB boots. So there arent that many really warm ones. I'm committed to freezing this winter, as I buying a power meter instead of thermal spd boots.

Totally. I practically subscribe to prendas oversocks.
But the Rapha look a little nicer, and they are only a little bit pricier.

prendas oversocks
shouty, much?
I received a pair of these in the post yesterday. I have to say, I'm not convinced they'll make any difference, they seem a little thin once on, but we'll see. I would have bought the defeets versions had they been in stock anywhere. and yes, shouty, but good
