  • What about when they accept your monies?..... Transaction complete, no?

    From Citizens Advice

Has the trader accepted your offer to buy?

To work out whether the trader has accepted your offer, you'll need to check the following:

the wording of your confirmation email or letter. For example, it might specify that the trader has accepted your offer

the contents of the terms and conditions. For example, they might say when acceptance takes place

whether the goods have been dispatched or the service has started. If the goods are dispatched to you or the service starts, it would be safe to assume that the trader has accepted your offer

if payment has been taken. If payment has been taken from you this does not necessarily mean acceptance has happened, but it could be a good indicator.

This line in your Rapha order email reserves the right to cancel if they feel like it.

In respect of errors, omissions or orders identified for re-sale purposes, Rapha reserve the right to cancel or amend these orders accordingly.

  • But my email says this;

Thank you for shopping at Rapha. Your order details are as follows.
    Order number ######

    So, doesn't that equate to;

"the wording of your confirmation email or letter. For example, it might specify that the trader has accepted your offer"

I haven't made any errors, and I'm not going to re-sell it :0)

  • Read the second line from the bottom in that email.

  • Do you mean the second last paragraph, that you quoted above?
As far as I can see, nobody has made any errors or omissions? There appears to be an active code that either works or doesn't?
Did they not mean for the code to be used?
If not, why keep it active?

Genuine curiosity, by the way ^ , not a troll post. The law confuses and fascinates me, particularly consumer law, in equal measures.

  • A discount code issued for a specific group, with terms describing it as only for use by that group, which is used by someone not in that group, would under any interpretation be invalid and considered an erroneous use by Rapha.

And I just mean read your order email all the way to the end.

  • Ah, I get what you mean about the fact that it might have been issued to a specific group... And I've blagged in on it. What am I looking for in my order email? Pm me if you want?

  • I am 6ft, 65kg 29" waist

you must be damn skinny. I'm 6ft and 85kg.

  • Unlucky cheapo's.

(Can someone mail me a working code? Thanks, yeah.)

  • any one have experience with the Race Cape ?

  • yeah its awesome, easier to get over your hands too unlike the regular rain jacket. But you need to be pretty much horizontal on the bike, sitting up wont work :D

  • Heard its not so waterproof?

  • Update from Rapha on cancelling my order...

    Hi Javed
Your order has been cancelled due to the fact that discount code was used to place the order is for Rapha staff only. Terribly sorry for the inconvenience.
    Kind regards
    Barney Starling

  • Anyone know anyone that works for Rapha? Need some gear!

  • Yeah, good luck with that.

  • Heard its not so waterproof?

Its not a touring rain jacket. The point of a racing rain jacket is to get the water reflected off your torso rather than getting soaked up, cooling you down and adding lots of weight. Any material that perform like this will have poor breathability thus your sweat will not wick from your body to the outside and evaporate as quickly leaving you wet inside the jacket from your own moisture. This is a very different wet than you would be with just a regular jersey though.

If you are looking for something that works around the city when it rains and you wont get sweaty from the effort I would suggest looking elsewere.

  • I have the City Wind Jacket, has worked wonders for the rain and breathability.

  • That's not 'waterproof' either.

IME it's not often I need a totally waterproof jacket. I only use a hardshell if I'm going out in moderate/heavy rain and know I'll be taking it easy.

  • I know its not fully waterproof but it did a great job in the recent heavy rain a few weeks back and breathability is excellent compared to some other jackets I have used in the past.

  • The only thing with it is I think I will need to retreat it for waterproofing...

  • If you need waterproof, pick up one of the Gore pac-lite jackets. Still fairly unbeatable.

  • I'd go with something with Pertex, like a Montane.

I already have too many shell jackets though.

  • New glove range is out: http://www.rapha.cc/shop/gloves

There is more to come though as the merino liners page recommends against using them as a stand alone glove and using the "merino glove" instead. The link goes to a login page:
