Definitely - I have base layers from five years ago still going strong and in regular use.

I just want to biggup their baselayers.
They've got a huge range of usable temps/conditions, and are still going strong FOUR YEARS since I bought them. All other merino baselayers I've tried have ended up being used as t-shirts (or unused).
the baselayers and the long sleve's are the only things that has not fallen apart for me yet. everything else has threading come loose or just become worn thin. should probaby have more things in rotation though : /

Use deep heat, it's basically the same but with a few minor differences

Or for more soothing effects use Sudocreme rather than Deep Heat.

Chamois Cream- Replace with Cocoa Butter
Embrocation- Replace with Tiger BalmThey may not smell of the herbs of ventoux. But they also don't smell of sucker.

Udderly Smooth is great, less greasy than Assos et al. Cheapa too.

Sudocreme doesn't really allow that much movement, plus it soaks through the chamois and leaves a lovely greasy patch on your bibshorts/saddle. You will also smell like a baby.

Ugh no way. Would not want to use cocoa butter for a long ride - it just turns into this weird gunk after a while.
Tiger balm, great for very cold winter days, but fuck applying that when you just want to warm your legs up a bit before a race or a chilly summer morning - your legs would be on fire by 11am. -

Yeah, but you'd sprint everywhere.

This raises a good question, is there any more effective warm up than just cycling? Or perhaps y'all were referring to feeling warm...
For my practice race yesterday I needed 20 minutes brisk cycling and a good glute stretch before I was of any use. I was quite slow indeed before this, but then found some legs and put out three hours of decent power. My body was telling me "fail to warm up on Sunday and you'll be dropped like a stone in the first 10km".

The 'put some tiger balm on your balls before a cold match' trick only works once.
I for one will never forget the burn.

Then you sure dont want to ever use Veet for men on your gonads...
-
• #12892
I have also done this.
The extra amount that collected in the wrinkles caused bleeding.
Again. I wont do it again. But Im sure theres plenty of new stupid things I haven done yet.

Me too.
Instead I got the city rain jacket. At roughly 40% off seemed like a good deal. If I don't like it I can always send it back.

There was some discussion about Caratti crochet mitts a while back. I just bought a pair here for like £8.50:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190881449759&var=490173178640
Only XS or S available but the S seems generously sized.
