has anyone ever used nikwax to restore the waterproof qualities back to the rain jacket, and if so, what type of nikwax and did it work? currently I might as well wear a silk shirt for all the coverage my rain jacket gives me.
-
• #12756
Is that the one I sold you? Dude, the hardshell I replaced it with is soooooooooo waterproof.
-
• #12757
haha, it's not that bad, but forearms do get wet in proper rain, needs solving before autumn arrives

Anyone in the know have an idea whether bibs are likely to be added to the sale?
I'm about to buy some bibs. At the minute, I'll be going elsewhere. If Rapha put their classics in the sale I'd probably go for them. I know Rapha have history of adding extra items to the sale as well as dropping the prices further, and would probably hang on if I knew.

Very much doubt they will add classic bibs to the sale, they're a staple item of the their range.
I don't recall seeing them in the sale before, I could be wrong though...

Trying to resist buying the city rain jacket...
Any negatives to help me dissuade myself?
-
• #12761
No - just buy it - will make Autumn cheerier.

what makes the city rain jacket different from the normal rain jacket?
-
• #12763
Created with a more urban aesthetic than the lighter weight Rain Jacket
I.e. heavier/less packable in a back pocket, and without the breathable sections of the rain jacket, and looking at them, a more relaxed cut.(and £40, obv.)

I wore the normal rain jacket pretty much straight through last winter with a baselayer underneath.
It traps the heat you generate extremely well- far too well to wear on a day like today if I'm being honest, you'd sweat to death rapidly.
But for a certain type of weather (cold, raining- the UK, in short) it's a great bit of kit.
My only regret is that I got the sort-of-beige one in order to be a bit more visible, and it's heavily marked by a mud track up the back that won't wash out.

Bought one anyway, I have a cream rain jacket so need something which will stain less. Also had a refer a friend code kicking around so £135 seems OKish.

I have a Rain Jacket for proper rides - lightweight, breathable and crucially no bag being carried - not sure how it would stand up to a season of bag strap rub - brilliant for shoving in your pocket when on the crabon though.
City Rain jacket is used for wet commute/ pub/ bag carrying - not fast riding - just wet transport - orange one is an extraordinary colour too.
-
• #12767
Wait, there's an orange one?
-
• #12768
There was, I believe it sold out though.
-
• #12769
Yep but not in the sale.
Can city rain jacket be shoved in a jersey back pocket on a longer weekend ride?
-
• #12770
Rainjackets will go into a pocket. Or you can put them up a jersy inside the bib mesh to save pocket space. Also comfier.
-
• #12771
^^ Not really no. You could make a long roll of it to fit - but it wont stuff in in the same way as the rain-jacket would
-
• #12772
bought club jersey. oops.
-
• #12773
that'll match your bottle, very important stuff this is.
-
• #12774
Didn't see the 'city' part. Partial reading fail.
But you could stuff it up your back still. Amazing what one can get up their back. -

No - too big - and you'd be too hot wearing it if you were riding hard
Not in the UK.
