Rain jacket is thinner but fully waterproof and packs down into a jersey pocket. The softshell is warmer and a bit more 'structured'; it does work well in wet conditions in terms of keeping you warm but it's not fully waterproof. The softshell is a sub-10° jacket really, a winter jacket. The rain jacket is better for carrying with you in case the weather turns bad.
The wind jacket is a bit of both - not fully waterproof but quite a good everyday jacket in cooler conditions, maybe 5° up to 15° or so.

Oh the women's sale! joyous!
Rain jacket is really light and thin and packs into a jersey pocket.
Softshell is a proper jacket, will give some warmth.
At these prices, GET BOTH! -

Oh the women's sale! joyous!
Thanks for the heads-up on this - girlfriend just got a Classic Jersey for $85 with my Festive 500 voucher as well! :)
This week has been really warm. Today saw a glorious ride in the sun, 20+ Celcius temperatures and all. Time to break out the Grand Tour Gloves (which are fucking amazing, if a rather silly luxury). Spectacular tan already taking shape...

I’ve got my wife a fair bit of Rapha stuff from their 50% sale (previous years every item was 50% off, though they had fewer items). She has all three jackets (softshell, rain and wind). Having spoken to her about them the Rain is the best all-rounder for the reasons Regal gave, however it oddly gets used the least. The softshell for when it’s really cold. Wind for when softshell is not needed. And Rain for when it’s guaranteed to rain. If she could only have one it would be the Rain, as one could layer accordingly. (note although she has all in the same size she finds the Rain slightly smaller (go figure), so if you plan to layer up make sure you get the right size).
But as Mands has said, at those prices, get both. It’s only a matter of time until the women’s sale goes the same way as the sample sale (as in they get rid of it), so you should get in now!

so this thing, http://www.rapha.cc/womens100
the "email registration" at bottom of page is this just to say you will ride 100km on 7th july? it doesn't have to be part of any organised ride? -

That's not the impression I got but I was reading it whilst severely tired after a night out. On the other hand, wouldn't you have to prove you'd done it?
-
• #11659
just realised I'm at a wedding that day anyway...
so. next rapha-related question - if I buy something in the sale, and it doesn't fit, can I get an exchange at sale price? (assuming in stock) or would I need to buy both sizes now and return one? -
• #11660
easier to get both and return one I think.

Any discounts available at the moment? Need a new jacket.
Someone willing to share. Pretty please?

So my Festive 500 roundel finally arrived yesterday and, as there's a few things I'd like, I was pleasantly surprised to also get a 15% discount code with it!
Unfortunately, it expired on the 15th March.... FML.

Envious.
Do you want a rain jacket?
Or a jacket you can wear when it's cold and drizzly?
The softshell will not work in the rain.
