Eweleaze Campsite near Weymouth
Abbotsbury subtropical garden is nice to mooch around and pretty close.
Re Town Farm, aren't they the same family who own Mead Farm and the Pick Your Own? I'm sure my wife's hairdresser is related to the camping contingent...

I wish I had a proper bed.
Sounds like you deserve a nice thick Exped. They really are proper. Is there no budget for your needs? £220. https://www.outdoorgb.com/p/exped_deepsleep_duo_75_m_sleeping_mat/?currency=GBP&country=GBR&SelectedBundle=194264&SelectedItem=799796&gclid=Cj0KCQjwoK2mBhDzARIsADGbjeoS2bzwa4MnCXoYOWDnl7N2aFyONidehe-3kEr4SyP1jDPmb23uXW0aAtboEALw_wcB

I've bought myself the Decathlon version of something very similar which has reasonable reviews and I could get in a real shop. First outing is next week, kind of curious to see how it goes.

Good luck! Don't forget eye mask, earplugs, Nytol or whatever else helps you sleep through the dawn chorus.

I am merely referring to @nick_h. saying: 'But if you're already packing an inflatable mat it's just about within the realm of cycle camping. Proper chairs seem like car camping gear to me.'
This thread hasn't been about bike touring or bikepacking for ages. They have their own threads. Is all I'm saying. So yeah, of course a proper chair is car camping stuff. As is this thread.

Got it.
Perhaps e-cargo bikes will lead to a confluence of car camping and cycle camping? Enough room for kids and a huge tent and lots of home comforts. If you could get an e-cargo bike on a train the possibilities would be endless.

Yep!

If you like fish, I can recommend the Rockfish restaurant

We're off coming tonight to the Town Farm campsite for a couple of nights. Going to the NHM in Tring and a dinosaur park also. Anyone been here? Looks nice, with a good playground and there's a pizza van visiting tonight.

Oh hai! Tring resident so happy to offer local recommendations. Tring brewery a must if you need to stock up for the campsite, Craftyard for adult drinks (not amazing for kids as its tiny), Periwala for curry, memorial park has an awesome Redwood tree to hug, NHM is great if a little creepy etc. Please bring the sunshine with you.

Sorry, looks like it's going to tip it down tomorrow. The memorial park sounds good.

It’s quaint but the sequoia is impressive. A short walk is the slightly hokey Tring local history museum which is open on a Saturday, the two decent coffee shops are Culture & Espresso Lounge, Nona’s has great Italian takeaway… Plus Tring Park (adjacent to the NHM) is brilliant but maybe less so when the weather’s against you and the kids run out of steam.
Edit: Also College Lake is well worth a look as it's on route between the campsite and Tring. They have a mammoth fossil in the floor which was excavated from the quarry. Bring your binoculars for the birds. -

Decathlon a chair and a trolley answering both queries.
I was looking at it for my daughters Reading Festival National Express-Camping camping.

Against my better judgement I'm going camping for a few nights next week with the family. I've got a camping stove thing from aldi - a double burner job and I need to get it hooked up to a camping gaz bottle with an adapter and that orange tubing. How do I go about doing that?
-
• #344
Most double burners come with the hose, you just need to make sure you have the correct regulator for the gas bottle. If not, take a trip to your local camping shop or go outdoors (or post the model up and here).
I assume the Aldi stove is one of the single burner types? They take a standard sized disposable cartridge.
Having re-read, the Aldi stove is the double burner! Link to the model on their website so we can take a look.

Cheers. It's this one (or pretty close): https://www.aldi.co.uk/adventuridge-dual-burner-with-grill/p/704237578228000
I bought it last year as it was reduced, but it's still in its box in the loft.
-
• #346
Do you have a gas bottle already?
-
• #347
Nope. I could get one off a mate, though.
-
• #348
Need to know what bottle it is before you can order the regulator .
This hose would do for any regulator

• #349
If the hose already has a regulator then this will tell you what gas you need, and vice versa if you have a gas bottle but no regulator
-
• #350
Cheers both. Can you buy the bottle and regulator together?
If it pisses down with torrential rain (has both times we've been there) head for the Tank Museum as it's good value and dry.
Weymouth has a nice beach and some ok restaurants
This year there's the added attraction of the Bibby Stockholm :-)
