Yeah, that was more my idea, I'll be in Spain/France the whole time, so any grocery will have delicious food anyway and I'd rather be lighter than cook myself delicious camp meals.

The jetboil copies from firemaple get pretty reviews I think for a fraction of the price.
-
• #104
Alpkit Brukit and the Planet X version both do more or less the same thing for cheaper.
If you watch ebay you should be able to get a second hand Jetboil for about £50 though.

Those are all firemaple rebranded. I think you just missed a good offer from planetx where they were £30.

That's one, yep. Not sure the black one comes with the pan stand attachment that you can see on the camo one.

I have a Jetboil Flash I'd sell for £40 if anyone's interested. Pickup from London or add £5 postage. Some cosmetic marks / scorches but works fine.

Petzl tikkina* and an elite in your bag just in case.
*unless you need a red lamp, which can be useful

Thanks, I actually bought a Petzl tikkina before you posted this, it's nice to have it validated though!

Put a google map together of all the sites on my long list, to help a group of us choose a site.
Thought it might be useful to others.

This is great mate! Out of interest, do all those on the list allow fires?
-
• #114
They should do.
It is my primary criteria! -
• #115
Ha, excellent - it would always be mine as well!

^^^^That's a great list: Reads like something from "Cool Camping".
I've been to a fair few of those.
Can also recommend WoWo, at least for kids. Bit basic facilities by my girls absolutely loved it.
And Abbotstone Wood True Camping site in Hampshire is good if nearly impossible to find.
Both positively encourage campfires. -

That's ace, cheers. I have to create a map of all my spots.

For anyone interested a few photos, took the wagon gravel shredding, 8 days in no campsites. I do have an lpg shower:)

I’m planning a one-night campsite trip this Saturday for myself and my three-year-old son..
Rest of family is away so I thought a night under canvas ‘might’ be fun.
Am I mad? We’d be in a small tent with only bare essentials .. my concern is that keeping him entertained and comfortable will be challenging (especially if the weather turns sour).
I’ll be in the car so we have a plan B if needed.
He’s camped before but in a camper van with a few more mod-cons and distractions, plus his older brothers to entertain him.
I guess I’m questioning my own ability to keep him amused without the usual fallbacks.

Ghost stories
Guess the animal sound
Card gameAs for comfort, lots of layers - ie PJs, bag liner, bag, blanket on top. You have a car so you have space to bring options.
Also, knowing one can survive a little discomfort is comforting :P
EDIT: you aren't mad, sounds like the perfect opportunity and method to get started!

That's what I am doing this weekend, with a three year old and a one year old.
It will be mega.Happy to share my kit list if you want
-
• #124
Kit list would be ace - I’m attempting to stay as basic as possible this time but its the forgotten child-specific essentials that I’m worried about
-

Survived.
The weather made my life easier and the kit list was very helpful.
My son was not the most patient partner when there’s work to be done.. and less content than me to just sit and admire the view, but he’s already asking when we can go camping again so i’ll take it as a win.
Campsite was £7.50 for the night for us both.!

Apologies if this isn't the correct place for this:
Does anyone have any head torch recommendations?
