The frenchies have the fear.

John, can you get our team on the list too ? I've ammended it below ( it's Crash Test Dummies) but am not sure if i have to register it with you some other way too, give me a shout if yes.
No. Thats all you have to do. This is the current list of teams. Ive been adding others to it as they register in other ways. If youre on the list, youre in..
Registration on the day will probably be just the standard "I am responsible for my own safety" style waiver, just like last year (if I can find last years..)
Ill have some copies of the rules (see Gabes' post above) in case anyone hasnt seen them. Helmets are not compulsory (but are definitely recommended, especially matt's hot cricket helmet with titanium face cage). Also, bar ends must be plugged. (Horatio, james brown, this inludes you..)
Refereeing:
There will be dedicated line referees, but as everyone is playing we're going to need people to volunteer for goal refs. Theres no sign up list, but it would be awesome if we could make sure that there are people in goal for every game, just to call shuffles, reset the posts, etc.
If you want to volunteer for being a line ref now, pm me, or offer to help one of the harassed looking refs when they look like they need it..

So I've seen a few start times advertised...what is the actual time you want people to arrive? I mean, not hipster time or roll around the corner with a hangover time, but the real time that people coming from out of town should use to book their trains etc.

Seriously. I was making travel plans on the basis of this (cut n' pasted from the BFF website):
BFF BIKE POLO TOURNAMENT 11:00AM
Then, on Dan's (oxfordtoff) advice, I went back and clicked the link, and saw this:
"Officially its a 9am start. (Thats a polo 9am, so hopefully we'll actually be playing by 10.)"
This is a crushing blow for those of us who a) don't live in London, b) enjoy sleep, and c) already made travel plans.
-
• #157
It's not a 9am start. That's from before we had to courts confirmed.
11am start, get there for 10/10:30 to register/start drinking.
-
• #158
That's a relief.
Thanks. -
• #159
No worries, sorry for the confusion.

I mean, not hipster time
MeOWW!
-
• #161
ha ha well I think i was given hipster time at last tourney, and not being one stupidly turned up slightly early and ended up waiting around for an hour. which wasn't a problem really

"Officially its a 9am start. (Thats a polo 9am, so hopefully we'll actually be playing by 10.)"
..and realistically, we start by 11. I think thats how timekeeping works. Bill? Am I ever late for work? (Apart from this morning, when I was still in bed when you called..)
As Mark said, thats from before we were using Newington. Registration should start from around 10ish, but thats definitely "roll up with a hangover" time, with plenty of space for caffeine and beer before the first games at 11.
Oh. And Venn, nice work on the team :)

I haven't been paying much attention to the fora, but is there a format for this?
-
• #167
I did a mock bracket using double elim. With 40 teams that leaves us a good amount of time. If we have significantly less, we may do a group stage.
So, yes and no.
-
• #168
What's a mock bracket?
Double elimination is good.
