lol, lucas been busting my balls about getting some of these ALL day, and someone else pops up with this! anyway, ebay mafac and let the bidding war begin.............
I was not busting you balls ... I was airing my frustration of having 4 missing components from finishing the old peugeot. I will stick up a pic on the current projects thread later.... it is looking sooo nice (as you have witnessed).

BALLS, as said in the thread if you confident enough with using just the front go ahead. it has the most stopping force. the only problem will be if/when i go over the handlebars but im sure ill be fine been riding with one brake for a while

No offense, mister, but coming from someone who didn't know his chain was slack, I would put two brakes on. What do you have to prove? Get your bike sorted out properly, it will be worth it.

- Lots.

Ha! :)
I don't think his chain is slack really, he's just been using a fish-eye lens.

nah im alright with the one
-
• #34
Why though? What is the disadvantage of having two? The only reason I can think of is that with just the one brake you can pass your bike off as a cool fixie skidder. If that is the case you are an idiot.
-
• #35
theres some real sensitivity about this. i dont ride my bike with the intention of giving the impression im on a fixie skidder. i ride it because its faster than walking.
-
• #36
But why not stick a rear brake on it as well as the front?
-
• #37
put 2 brakes on your bike, fool

I think this is the one circumstance where I'd advocate the use of a helmet...

Another great case of natural selection. God bless you, Darwin.

I've posted this before, but I urge you to read it:
"People tend to hold overly favorable views of their abilities in many social and intellectual domains. The authors suggest that this overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it."

the thing that really gets me is that you are implying that brakes are on your bike to prove how cool you are (hence the "fixie skidder reference, I can only assume).
We are not talking about cool points, we are talking about safety from a vantage point of physics. -

I think you'll need a longer pull lever.
Unlike us happily-married people...

I used to use a club, much more effective than a lever...
