• yo mattt if you order spokes from sjs cycles they will calculate it for you.

  • i built the radials up the other day for someone but can't remember the length. think it's ~250mm

  • Dale, I've got a rear wheel build for you in a week or so... I wanna watch and help out tho', so I can do it myself next time... 36h Goldtech to H plus son, gonna go 3 cross with bladed spokes... Any idea what length spokes I'm gonna need? Is it gonna be easy to get black brass nipples? How's the birthday goin'? :)

  • The 650 H+son to generic high flange radial uses 224, so I would guesstimate something around a 250 would be right, as mister balls says

@teenslain I think they sell black brass nipples at the hens teeth shop

how bladed? if too bladed you need the hubs eyelets slotted ;)
black brass nipples are hard to get hold of, try cavendish though. i built the 36h rear 4x with 280's and they were a tad long. i'd imagine 268ish

I know the place, up on Rockinghorseshit Avenue... Thanks for the tip...

Not too bladed, just like the ones I've got on my Phil/Deep V, no extra slottage required... Think they're DTs... I'll check...

  • cheers for the help guys

    that wheel's gonna look sick...

  • I spoke to Mr Spaghettihoops about lacing a 32h On-One hub to a H+Son.
He says I need 268mm spokes for standard 3 pattern. Is that right?

It's not that I don't trust what Rob said but I just want to make sure cos it's my first wheel build.

    CHeers.

  • don't trust him, he's lying.

(it's only what Dogs told me anyway!)

  • I'm getting various spoke lengths in different calcs - can someone else check these??

I have 32h high flange miche primato track hubs and want to lace them 3-cross to Velocity Deep Vs.

Spocalc comes out at 281.7 but conflicts with measuring a built up wheel (in the condor shop) of 276 and another spoke calc online which gave me 272!

Front: 100mm wide, flange width is 66mm, flange diameter (hole to hole) 60mm
Rear: 120mm wide, flange width is 74mm, flange diameter (hole to hole) 60mm

According to my spoke calc the effective rim diameter of a Deep V is 582 but i've no spare nipples/spokes to measure this on the rims.

  • check this is out its excellent:

are you using 32 hole or 36 hole?
above site worked yours out as 32 hole - 280.31
    and 36 hole - 276.66

  • Yowser, that is nice. Thanks Cohen.

Gives me another new number: 280.31

    interesting.

Anyone else? I might just order 280s and suck it and see.

  • i would just go with 280s as a millimetre is not going to matter
i think you probably just got your wacky 276mm and 272mm lengths from hubs with 32 holes or less..

  • Anyone else care to check these numbers?

  • 280 drive, 282 non drive

or just 280 for both sides, it'll work just fine.

  • 280 drive, 282 non drive

or just 280 for both sides, it'll work just fine.

They should be symmetrical, so that can't be right.

  • why should they be symmetrical? miche high flange are single sided hubs so they need to be dished. and if you want to keep the lacing simple and go with same length for both sides, just tighten the drive side by 1.5 or 2 turns more than the non drive.

  • hi all

i was wondering if any body had any idea what spoke length i would need to buy with a
campag atlanta rim and campag large flange hub?

    cheers all

  • awesome cheers man

  • no problem. there are quite a few forum members who are experienced wheel builders if you have any questions. just do a quick search and post to the appropriate person. good luck.

  • i find this is a very good calculator

    http://www.sapim.be/index.php?st=spokelength

  • I can't seem to find a spoke calculator that has the hub I have on it. Does anyone know what spoke length I need. If anyone can bless me with their knowledge I would really appreciate it.

    Here's the hub:
