  • iphone 4, no messing about.

  • looks like that lady just got beamed down

  • Day of the Triffids shit there Jammy, close your eyes London.

  • Jammy, if there was a Photo Of The Week prize, you'd have won it.

    Superbly done mate.

  • That sounds like a good idea GA2G, but maybe photo of the month though.
Could do it as one of the voting threads, dunno what the prize could be though.

  • But with no special phone effects (because I dont know how to do them and I don think my phone can support them)

  • it's from the evil more london estate who have banned cycling along this section of the thames, wouldn't surprise me if they were working up a supergasmolasertron to destroy the tourists too...

    edit: good pic tho.

  • Hadn't thought before, but yes, it seems like something that could work.

Instead of a physical prize, I suppose their could be just the praise of other forumengers, via the above suggested voting system. I like this idea actually.

Ideas on how it could work anyone?

Maybe two sections, where an unaltered phone image is in one category, and edited in-camera images in another?

But in my opinion, we should strive to tie in this forum's cycling ethic somehow.......otherwise we're leaving the forumo behind. Which I think, would be a negative.

Can it be a social event, but then what of forumengers who are out of London.

  • Can it be a social event, but then what of forumengers who are out of London.

We can send them a photo of how it went down.

  • Hmm if its a monthly or bi-monthly social/comp then it might be a bit easier for out of London members to come as opposed to weekly? Pick a pub next to a main station and hey presto. I vote Roebuck as its close to London Bridge.

It sounds fucking lame but maybe a badge or sometihng saying photo of the month get posted on the winners page, or on here?

Personally I reckon unaltered phone images only as I have no idea how to edit my photos, plus, however nice a lot of the iphone applcations can make photos look its an application that often might make a fairly mundane photo look all nostalgic and cool thereby increasing its street cred and garnering votes.

Also sounds like a good idea to have cycling involved somehow. Maybe the photos could come with a short description or caption that explains relevance if not initially obvious. I dunno though.

  • I'll ask some other image posters on this thread their opinions, and maybe we can get a consensus.

  • On a second thought I reckon bicycle involvement shouldnt be compulsory, while it will make people become more thoughtful and imaginative in taking their photos there also might be the danger that a lot of the images could be fairly repetitive.

just adding my vote to the idea. love it.

    pot belged and unpot belged

  • Needs a theme, could be loosely around the bike and still get some good shots and plenty variety. E.g. Primary Colours, Night, Blur etc etc

Submissions may need to be anonymous to remove the risk of lurkers clicking to vote for their mates just 'cos it's their pic.

Even so... Found in a prev similar comp on another forum that after a few rounds it became easy to guess who took what by pic style which leads to the above.

There will be arguments over how it's scored.

There will be altered images submitted, regardless of rule not to.

There will be arguments over pics that look altered.

It's all good fun if you're not affected by the above.

Just my tuppence. I'm moving house, but when done may join in if owt comes about - Enjoy working to theme and getting feedback from others.

  • just take any image, have a vote, job done.

  • I like the idea of having a theme?

    One competition theme per month.

Interpretation of the theme would be to personal tastes, so there would be massive variation, around a single theme.

I just think its harder to judge a macro-image of an apple, against an action photo for example. Just my two pee. ;)

  • i like the theme idea also. i think in this informal judging by forumers it will be easy as it will be favourite picture wins. as long as the link to the theme is not too tenuous it will make things more interesting and not upset the rhythm of this already really nice/inspiring thread.

  • How will the voting work?

  • he he ...

I think a photo theme / comp is a great idea, i've followed some (but never enetered) on digital slr sites etc.

    The rules are pretty simple.

    Submit in time frame
Submit image of a certain size, both file size and Maximum Aspect ratio
    Display EXIF data
Be honest about any adjustments - These will sometimes appear in the EXIF anyway i think.
Maximum of 3 submissions per person per theme.

Not sure how short listing would work mind.

  • Let's do it!

  • From a recent trip to Slovenia, on iPhone 3GS

  • Which phone was used for the photo Sparky?

Its the only rule for this thread.........

  • Whats EXIF data and maximum aspect ratio?

  • It shows details of the digital image.

I think that part shows the authenticity of the photo, but maybe its too technical for some?

Some brilliant images are taken by people that are not very digitally inclined. I for one prefer
film photography, but created this thread because of the immediacy of photos from phones.
Do I need to go on a course to justify my image? I feel this shouldn't be necessary.

Is there an option to this? Could we trust each other to just use mobile phones and not cheat
by using a dedicated digital camera? I would hope so.
