  • I wouldn't be surprised, people can actually see you instead of being invisible with that stupid blue marshals vest.

  • well I suppose people do need to know who the marshals are - what would your ideal marshal bib look like?

  • Not blue for a start.

red would be a bit more obvious (bit similar to the orange ride leader vest though), or even green.

personally, I'd just rather everyone to be themselves without feeling the need to pick up the yellow skyride vest and have the marshall to wear the yellow instead.

  • the rapha brevet gillet

that is what i want the vest to look like

  • pink! good thinking Flamboyant James.

  • The London Festival of Architecture ones are right up your street then Jimbo.

I want both your help with those next year.

  • do we get paid?

  • I'm still surprised we don't get paid considering how much attention Skyride get (especially with advertising and the like).

  • ed,we all marshall for the goodness of cycling,

  • So LFGSS meet up somewhere and laugh at each other bibs.

  • i dont wear a bib,i can eat properly as well as marshall

  • At the same time using cutlery?

  • lets hope the weather is good.

forky is ok so far. white cloud and 20.

  • do we get paid?
    ffs - cowboy

I'm still surprised we don't get paid considering how much attention Skyride get (especially with advertising and the like).
We will be paid a small fee but the money we receive will go back in to Southwark Cyclists to spend on worthy projects, donations, essential expenses and other more noble things than silk scarves, crochet mitts etc.

  • Nothing else matter more than silk scarves and mitts.

  • lynx,im not allowed sharp objects

  • Nothing else matter more than silk scarves and mitts.

lynx, I expected more from you.

  • I'm marshalling the ride from Cutty Sark to Tower Bridge at 11 am and the return ride.

I'll probably do a turn of the route and then slouch off to Look Mum No Hands until I'm needed again.

As for getting paid - The info I got said that there will be a Marshall hospitality area; for once my name is on the list and I'm getting in. Do cycling shoes count as trainers, though?

  • lynx, I expected more from you.

    Bows head....mumbles sorry.

  • lynx,im not allowed sharp objects

    Spork

  • One thing the traffic will be bad as there will be loads of cars with cycles in.

  • I'm about to set off on the skyride with my wife and eldest child can anyone tell me what the weather is really doing in central London now as i know weather forecasts are hit and miss at the best of time and the wife melts when she comes in contact with water

  • Me and my Southwark crew will be leading feeder rides from Peckham Rye (Cafe on the Park) to Southwark Bridge at 10.30am and 12pm. Join us if you are coming from the South East!

How suitable do you think this will be for a very, VERY nervous cyclist? My girlfriend has no confidence on on roads, but I might be able to convince her to come. Will you be leading the group down back streets, and at what sort of speed?
    Ta.

  • Can we take bikes on trains? Gf is too scared to cycle on from Forest Hill.

  • This biggest challenge is the stopping and starting with all the other wobbly cyclists. It's very slow but you have to concentrate and it's not for everyone! That said you could always join for a bit and peel off if you're not having a good time.
