I used to go to this guy's shows about 10 years ago in Toronto. He was a bit of a gimmick one man-band type thing (you'd collect "Jimmy Points" which, when you reached a certain number, would give you a super power. And there would be prizes at shows. I once won "someone else's glasses!"), and he made a "super" group at one point (with some other Toronto/Hamilton people) but they just dressed up as cats and their songs with just them meowing (as he does at the end of the first video).

Memories! More one-man gimmick bands I used to go see back in Canada:
Lederhosen Lucile - she was based in Montreal, but from Ottawa. I think my friend, who was also in a one-man gimmick band [http://www.myspace.com/evilcomputer] had a crush on her for ages.

The World Provider - originally Toronto, than moved to Montreal. Used to slowly strip during his shows.

here he is covering Pavement - awesome:

Mayor McCa - he ran for Mayor of Hamilton at one point, wanting to change the name of the city to "Donut Rock City." I've just discovered he has now moved to London and is playing shows here!

They were brilliant. Free jazz mixed with klezmer yiddish music.

Maybe some David Sylvian will cheer you up?
Not David Sylvian... the singer is Robbie Grey - actually a mate of mine from years back - who was the lead singer of Modern English (biggest hit the much covered I Melt With You)
Friday bump.
