Family are all from that way, sheffield really but lots have ended up in leeds to but unfortunately not myself, a uni mate has been working up there for a year and finally got round to visiting him, helps that he's taken up cycling this year.
unfortunatley hes moving to begium at the end of the year, so a different challenge, but still good cycling to be had there!

Some bits of Cambridgeshire are beautiful on a clear day. I'd recommend getting up to somewhere like Sandy, then go East via B1042 towards Cambridge and then turn south towards Hertford along B1368. It's slightly tricky if you don't know the route but it's mostly flat with not too much traffic.
Used to take me about 8hrs on my hybrid (26" wheels) averaging 15.5mph.

Dorset - Between Bournemouth and Bridport. Stick to the coast roads; its a bit up and down but realy beautiful and some decent pubs en route. Not entirely undiscovered England but some of it is close to it.

Want to go riding far north where there is the cold and some massive hills to couquer, I need to pay my penance to the bike god ... but this is going off topic.
However a cursory look over google brought this up.

If they have already been linked I have had too much beer already to bother looking at the rest of the page...
I personally would get a route in that has plenty of climbs.
I live in Newcastle but hail from near cookridge so was out with my pops.
You?
Some lovely country on the doorstep of that side of leeds, bolton abbey and up to burnsall's great. I've got a bit more of a trek to get out into that kind of scenery from newcastle. Though it's just as good once you get there.
