What is the most authentic place to ride?

  • It is and can only be Tynan and ICM£5

  • Back On Topic the most authentic place to ride is definitely Ringwood Road to Poole ... there is lots of post industrial .. working class scenery (con club(aka the monkeyhouse) at the summit) then a fast scoot into Post-Post-Modern Poole .. where there is a very commercial quay, with Aussie themed sports bars that don't show any sports.

On the way there ..you will see such delights as Animal kingdom which could possibly have protesters outside because they are selling our simian brothers. You will spin past the fish and chip shop in Oakdale and finally race for the traffic lights ... get this right and it is a great run past the kerry food factory (Richmond Sausages) and into the Harbour....

    Very authentic.. indeed.

  • But what does the road look like?

  • Lots of Potholes ... it is slightly blackey purple between halfords and con club before and after very grey with lots of pot holes and sandy coloured gravel .. I have ridden it about 2000 times over the last 13 years I reckon (I am not actually joking about this) and ran over twice on this route. Towards Animal Kingdom about 4-5pm you will get the smell of resin from the fibre glass boats being build up one of the side roads.

Have you thought of measuring the distance then timesing it by 2000 to find out how far you have ridden in a straight line? I bet it is a fair way. You could then plot this line on a globe between all the major fixed cities such as SF NY Tokyo etc. Maybe get the fibreglass people to mold a massive traditional globe for you?

I'm liking this Universal but have an alternative ideation for you. How about measuring the distance as above but plotting it onto the lines and creases in a picture of Lance Armstrong's face before having a giant prosthetic testi injection moulded (this is key, it must be injection moulded). And the picture of Lance with route plotted then projected onto the giant synthetic testi, which sits on a simple white plinth in a white space.

This says so much about distance, endurance, and manipulation. The three key elements of authenticity. Maybe we could have a thought-shower?

  • Ideation, I like that word, - thought shower? You must be a pro ad man with that kind of lingo.

Not really familiar with Lance Armstrong so I am going to let that one pass.

I just made up 'ideation' but it's now trademarked, please feel free to use it for a nominal fee. Definitely a pro something.

Lance never let anything pass, that's all you need to know about him.

  • The word ideation appears to have been around a few years!

Is there nothing new under this sun?

Anyway, here is another piece I have completed. It was inspired by Spain banning bull fighting recently.

  • no it's not - it's a badly photoshopped version of a picasso piece

you're not very good at being a troll are you…

  • It is actually a piece I completed today. Glad you spotted the Picasso reference here and indeed I do use Photoshop as one of the main tools in my studio. It's all work in progress and I feel art is never done?

Art is knowing when to stop ...

  • I might do a Michael Landy then.

  • Go one further - put your girlfriend and cat through a shredder.

  • What's going on here?

  • What's going on here?

This thread is over, sorry :(

  • I have just discovered this fella who photographs empty studios and other flat surfaces. Nice.

  • There is so much more there, because there is nothing there. Yet there is everything. There.

  • Bet you can't prove it. I just don't see it, personally.

  • sunday morning, market place in your local town, 9 o clock - club run.
    cycling heritage.

  • Fuck I am confuse.

  • On a serious note, the best place to ride isn't a place at all - it's at night. I've recently taken to a quick burn late at night. Lovely feeling, buildings all lit up, space, time, no light, lovely stuff.

  • I wonder is there any nice places to ride in Leicester, any ideas ?

  • Yep, Leicetershire country side.
