  • As per the rolling test, does not the result of tests say different?

Or is there a different real world result to lab?

  • Yeah, I've previously done the testing on my front wheels. I don't have the numbers but I previously raced with 25s that came up 27mm but moved to Open Corsas in the fat version and then to Open Corsas in the skinny version. On the rear, makes no difference so keep it fat for theoretically some Crr benefit but mostly comfort.

What's his face from HED, Tom Anhalt? will have some better data for other wheels if this kind of thing floats your boat :)

  • So, less than 1W improvement in Crr, which could easily have vanished with the aero losses and both of which are almost certainly blasted into nothingness with atmospheric pressure and wind conditions.

  • You're a weirdo if you don't ride at least a 28mm

  • Read the first paragraph. Is not equivalent, is way harder.
Or do you ride gravel tyres at that pressure?

  • You're a racer (or old or Italian or Spanish) if you don't ride at least a 28mm

    ftfy

  • £40 / pair Wiggle Open Pave Full Black in retail packaging not OEM. I am impressed.

  • Each year they keep finding more for a unknown reason . Much like the dunelm sale

  • I've got my Focus CX bike back. It's currently got a 23mm Rubino up front with about 10-15mm clearance on both sides and a 32mm on the back with maybe 10mm clear on each side. 700C with tubes.

What gravel/off-road tyres can I get that will fit? Obviously 'cross tyres of some description will fit but if we're assuming dry riding I can push the clearances. 35..38..40mm? What's out there (and cheap, coz this is a beater)?

  • I love schwalbe g one allround in 38, can also get 35, not super cheap but not crazy prices either.

  • As soon as I posted that I remembered I have a G-One or something similar in the cupboard.
I have a feeling it's 30mm only. I'll have a look and compare with the Allround. Ta

  • Yeah, it's a G-One Speed in 30mm.
Also have a pair of 37mm Voyager Hypers in boxes and the forum fave Panaracer...

  • Found a Schwalbe Marathon Supreme HD in 700x40mm and it leaves around 5-7mm clearance.

I guess going knobby will mostly depend on the side knobbage and less the overall size.

  • Thanks to @Oddo thread I now want to put a set of green Michi CX tyres on it...

  • I'm still living in 2012, but need new tyres, so I have no idea what model names/numbers mean anymore apart from gp5000, which is better than gp4000 because of numbers.

What would be the Conti/Vittoria equivalent of Pirelli P7 Sport Pro?

  • Why not try pirelli velo 4s the new kid in town

  • Over £50 per tyre?! I don't like cycling that much ffs

  • I guess Vittoria zafiro pro and Conti Ultra Sport.

  • Looks like I can get Rubino Pro for £12 a tyre, which is a bargain imo

  • Open Pave plus latex inners and a squirt of sealant to stop the air loss is sweeeeeeet

  • Open pave at cheap wiggle price but only upto 27c.
    Corsa control at 30+

  • Decent enough tyres unless it's something for a Sunday best

  • Continental Grand Prix are well reviewed, and apparently were the fastest of the cheaper tyres when I last checked a couple years ago.

  • just grabbed a couple more of these to add to the stockpile. unbeatable at that price

unsure how they keep finding stock of them? that packaging has been re-stickered from corsa CX...
