I prefer the Michelin Power Tubeless, just as fast but a lot more durable.

Pace mate, the Cinturatos, you're saying they are quite porous until sealant seals them up?
-
• #8954
Been wanting to try these tubeless , thanks for the info

Only problem I had was at the bead/rim area, but that was because I didn't clean my rims first. Didn't encounter any weeping from the sidewalls.

Cool. Fitted the 35c version to a 25mm wide rim as mentioned above, hence the caution, without sealant just to see whats what, tend to do that first.
Went on super easy and pumped right up no problem, seem nicely seated etc. They will eventually, maybe 2-3 hours of just sitting, be completely flat. It is coming out of the bead extremely slowy, had it in water there and the bubbles form slow all the way around the bead.
Dont want to use them just yet so not going to bother with sealant at the moment but I'm fairly confident that will resolve it.

They hold air fine thats not a problem they just ooze a bit . They have stained the loft boards a bit on the summer wheels. I have g-0ne and teravail that dont do that.

Ok, cheers for the clarification. Should be grand.

The WTB Byway I have leaked like bastards. One sealed fine after a day, one didn't but in fairness they sent me a free replacement which is fine.

My WTB horizons leaked seal and right through the sidewalls at first, I gather it’s a feature
When I took them off the sealant had really glued them on
-
• #8961
Yeah WTB's do that. Senderos did the same and then were absolutely flawless tbf

What’s the go-to 26” mixed surface touring tyre these days? Will be used with tubes, no Rene Herse wank please but preferably slightly more inspiring than marathons lol.

Do you want slick or some knobbles?
If the former I’ve been using conti contact Urban for a while, rate them pretty highly!
-
• #8964
It’s for my partner, she’s got slicks in the form of Kenda Kiniptions which have served her well inc dusty forest roads but prob something like double fighters or something else with a little bit of a shoulder? I’m sure tyres like that are more psychological than functional. Just seeing what’s out there as not shopped tyres in years.

Maxxis DTH.
Panaracer Gravelking (if you can find them).
-
• #8966
I've been using Gravelkings to commute but they've cut up badly really quickly and I've been puncturing all the time.
I don't really want to fit Marathon Plus but punctures are a massive pain if you've got nursery pickup etc.
What's the commute-proof tyre of choice nowadays? I feel quite out of the loop with bike stuff.

what size

• #8968
From my recent research, I went with Pirelli Cinturato Velo. 435g in 35c so not obscenely heavy like Marathon plus and puncture protection supposed to be good.
Stuck in an 135 mile, mostly road but some gravel sections (snow), ride on them on Friday and they were good especially for what they are.

Conti contact Urban (I’m a broken record 😆)
465g at 700x35c

I like the price of these - £13.99 at CRC for 32mm,which is probably what I'd be after.
-
• #8971
looks like they only have it available in 1.5” / 37mm for £13.99.. in 700c
Edit - and 1.6”

marathon supreme folding or tubeless
-
• #8973
I've used those before actually, they were very good.
-
• #8974
That was me trying to convert inches to cm in my head while tired, I thought 1.5" was 37mm.
Ah well.

Im about to order a pair of Pirelli Cinturato Velo, not sure if to go for 32 or 35mm.
The frame clears a 35mm tire if true to size but not much more, I will fit them on a rim with 17,5mm inner width. Is 35mm fine or do they "run large"?
Any better current choice other than my usual GP5000 for a fast rolling 32mm road tyre?
