Which Tyres?

  • Conti sport Contacts from Planet X, basically fat gatorskins. Not as heavy duty as marathons but ride is lovely, they’re cheap and PP is pretty good. £8 a pop last time I looked. 35 true to size, 42 measure 41 on 19mm internal rims.

  • Legend. Used to love gators back in the heyday of skidding..

  • I'm on a similar quest to yours. Curious to hear how you get on, and whether you find them for cheap anywhere. Cheapest I can find right now is £35 each on CRC.

  • Any recommendations for 30-32c tubeless tire for all road use? Mainly paved. Currently using G-One speed, something similar, tiny bit more volume and less expensive. :)

  • marathon supreme?

  • Jack brown?

  • Just impulse-bought some Conti SportContacts on PlanetX on a total punt. What's the worst that could happen for £20? https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYCONSCII/continental-sport-contact-ii-700c-wired-tyre

  • What's the worst that could happen

you'd have to read through @PhilDAS 's praise for them

  • Too big, already have 38c tires for gravel.
    WTBs are too expensive.
Might as well take another pair of G-ones.

    Gravelkings are fragile I read?

  • Vittoria Rubino Pro could work - I have a pair but yet to ride them so all I can tell you is that they look nice.

  • supremes come in 32

  • Indeed. Bike24 had not this option, found on bike-discount.
    Thanks, will consider.

  • Anyone tried Vittoria Terreno Zero? Look to fit the bill for road biased mixed use tyres for those resistant to supremes.

  • Looking for ideas to replace my tires since I had a huge puncture today (branch went straight through the tire).
    Specs wanted if it exists:

    • 650x35B (or any big 33 wide 650B tire, 35 is the max so ideally the target),
    • mostly for road (very very occasional light off-road)
    • with "reasonable" pucture protection (i.e. not a marathon but still with protection)
    • black or tanwall and ideally not too expensive (please do not recommend compass or anything similar)
Current tire were Michelin Wild Run'r and despite some mixed reviews they were okay.
If you have any recommendation please share!
  • Anyone spotted any good deals on fancy 23c gumwalls? Vittoria, Challenge, Veloflex etc?

  • Looked but I think they only come 30 (too narrow) and 40/50 (too wide), but thanks.
Ended up ordering Nifty Swifty 650x34B which is the closest to what I wanted I believe and they offer it on tanwall so will give it a try.

  • Thought they did a 32?

  • tbf I just checked on here but they might have I don't know! but I know many people recommend it so will definitely be the next one I try! thanks

  • Front tyre on eldest kid's Arkose is sporadically leaking air, and the rear tyre is fairly worn.

Current tyres are WTB Riddler 37c. They seem pretty ideal; and point in considering other tyres or just get these again?

It's mainly used on road with a bit of Epping Forest and dirt tracks thrown in.

  • Maxxis Velocita AR Dual SilkShield TR?

  • Just get one to replace the rear and fix the leak on the front. Really like these

  • Probably the correct answer, yeah.

I thought the front tyre had fixed itself after I put some fresh sealant in, but it's still losing a bit. Will make a bit more effort to find the hole.

  • Veloflex Master 23 shouldn’t be too hard to find cheap. If not, I might have some lightly used or possibly one boxed knocking around somewhere.
