Does anyone have reccomendations for a 26" mtb tyre that's good in mud and not super expensive?

Gravelking 28’s. Forum recommended pressure?

Guess it depends on your weight, weather conditions, road surface and just general preference

Nobby Nic, and it comes in all price ranges too.

I'm 73kgs, run mine 50 front 60 rear.

Don't remember but i think i ran them 75/65 or something like that. Tubed.

Specialized Storm Control and Bontrager XR Mud are both excellent all-conditions tyres if you're not too fussed about mad volume. Purgatory/Butcher 2.3 combo I'm currently running is pretty decent in mud too.

Anyone tried Vittoria Corsa Control G+?
The Corsa G+ were nice to ride, but cut up easily and I switched (back) to Michelin Power Endurance after a ride was cut short by one of the tyres being slashed right through

Anyone have an opinion of 32mm gravelking vs 30mm Challenge Strada Bianca? For cobbles...
Cheers in advance! -

Is there a 29er tyre out there which is:
-low effort on roads
-great on sustrans/towpaths/gravel etc
-not completely useless on muddy trails?Perhaps WTB Nano?
-
• #5487
Never used the biancas but I like my 32 GKs. Not as fast as my 25c challenge elites or 28 Schwalbe pros but not slow, plenty grippy in wet and only had 1 puncture in about 800k

Nano are very good for sure !
But your point one is very antagonist with the point 3, so always a compromise problem. -
• #5489
Yeah I know, I have proper mud tyres so don't need to be great there, but would like something that has a little bit of grip.

I've got Soma Cazadero in 42c, but they also do a 50. Not great in mud, but not totally shit. Great everywhere else.

i think they are fine in the wet. i've done a few real wet gravel races on the ar version, and the speed version is my winter tire in seattle so it is basically always wet.

What is the best way of repairing some small cuts and holes in a tyre? (gp4000sII)
-
• #5494
Brilliant thanks!

• #5495
I should have said, I get that size because they're handy in your on-the-bike toolkit. Superglue dries quicker if you spit on it, when you want to get going quicker..
If it's a large cut you'll need to deflate the tyre, but with small holes I don't bother and just use it like a filler.

Wife’s front wheel punctured over the weekend and had to dig out shards of glass, so quite a lot of little cuts, I was after a strong flexible glue, didn’t know that stuff existed!
-
• #5497
I'm not convinced there is any point, and have stopped doing it

If sand/mud get in the cuts it may prove to be more puncture resistant than fixing it, but makes me worry a bit less (as I generally have to do the inner tube repairs on any ride)

TL:dr
what are we commuting on these days for fit and forget london proof in 28-32c? Need to upgrade the cheap stock charge ones on Liz’s summer bike. Eyeing up the rivs on planetx.
She has marathons of some discription on her 26” winter bike which have provided years of puncture free service so always an option. -

Marathon supreme.
After fully beige, not just sidewalls.
EDIT : Something like the schwalbe fat frank, ie cream and quite subtle tread, but in 700c
