  • 435g tubeless compatible 18.5mm inner 22.5mm outer 24, 28, 32h. Also tubular version?

  • want

  • Wide rims: good.
    Blobs at every spoke: ugly.

  • Sooo, a bit like the new humpback Zipps?

  • mavic can never be 'cool'

  • Exactly. It's ugly on the Zipps (but at least they boast an aero advantage) ; I can't see it being the case with the Open Pro. I hear the "reinforced at the spokes" argument, but then I'll assume the rim will be amazingly light, which, frankly, I doubt.

  • I like them, apart from the bumpy brake track...

  • doubt it would look as good as the classic Open Pro in silvers

Due to the failure of a 90s Hope ti hub my Colnago needs some new wheels. These would look totally wrong so looks like I need to get buying some classic ones sooner rather than later.

  • Also, we're in the tyres thread people. Let's get this over to wheels or wheel building ASAP>>>>

  • It's from removing material in between the spokes, they've been doing it for ages.

  • Yeah I know. But it's still ugly. And their rims aren't really lighter nor more durable than the competition.

EDIT : sorry, rant over, back to tyres. @Scrabble

  • Rigida Chrina? Closest one to the old silver open pro with same width and all.

  • I bought some 35mm voyager hypers for my girlfriend's bike, unfortunately they don't fit under the mudguards so want to get rid of them. Got the for 14 each I think so would accept £20 for the pair if anyone is interested, would also consider a swap for any 28-32mm touring tyres (single or pair)

  • 25c G+ Corsas currently leave 3mm clearance on one side and 4mm on the other on 303s in my frame. Is 28c going to leave too little room for debris? I read a review comment on the G+ page on CRC and the guy said he was running 28c on 303s in the same frame (hi-mod synapse), but he was in Dubai and riding them at 110psi, so I'm not sure about his wisdom. Pics attached show current 25c clearances.

Unless he is pushing over 100kg, that is way too high a pressure.

Ideally, 80psi rear, 60psi front give or take a person's preference and weight.

Your clearance look OK, as long the wheel is well build, and the tyres pressure is idea for your weight.

  • Agreed. I've never ridden my 25c corsas over 70/75. My question about the clearances is am I likely to get issues with an extra 3-4mm of tyre in the 7ish mm of space I've got spare if I upgrade to 28c?

  • Sorry I missed that part! I think 28mm will be a little on the tight side.

You can probably get a better idea by pushing the rims on the side and see how close it is to the chainstay, personally on a carbon bicycle, I'd er on the side of caution.

Beside the Corsa G+ is a very comfortable tyres even in 25mm.

  • That's what the sensible side of my brain was saying.

They are lovely tyres, but was lusting after extra lushness...

  • Have you measured those 25's to see how big they actually come up?

  • Absolutely fine for British roads but I'm eyeing up the cobbles of northern France over summer, hence the enquiry

  • The 28mm on my bike is measured almost exactly 28mm (at 50/60psi), having said that I haven't measured it again to see if it bedded in, let me check.

  • Okay I have measured mine with a digital calipers.

It's 28.5mm wide (in 19mm wide rims), the front is 45-50psi and the rear is 55-60psi (I'm 71kg).

  • If you live or work near St Paul, I be happy to lend you my 28mm Corsa G as I need to replace it from my steel road bike due to similar clearance issues!

  • Interesting. I'm 74kg and the 303s are 17.5mm internal, so maybe at 70psi or a bit less they wouldn't be that much wider. Might be worth a punt on a tyre if I find a good deal
