hey all, my front tyre has recently developed a rip in the tyre wall so I need some new ones. I have a red and black theme so preferably red, possibly green.700c x 23-24. thanks.

what is the job, or is it simply to colour match?
are you looking for puncture protection, durability, grip, comfort, suppleness...
-
• #329
just cruising but should have good grip in the wet. puncture protection is of high priority. durability is also important. are halo twin rails any good?

The forum has a lots of useful things, the two for you are:
the search function. Use it and use the advanced settings.
the lists. See the definitive lists of lists for a list of the lists.
In there you will find a tyres thread.

Vittoria Rubino: cheap, good and lots of colours in stripes

There is tyre called Amerityre which is made of hard polyurethane foam. They are therefore garenteed puncture proof. More on them here: http://www.puncture-proof-tyres.co.uk/ All the reviews of them I have read so far have been positive. They seem to be much better than a similar tyre called Green Tyre, though I had a pair of these on an old three speed roadster for around six months and had no problems at all.

Hi, I've just bought a Charge Plug Prestige and whilst I love it the tyres are a bit heavy duty for me, I want something zippier with more roll, obviously puncture protection is pretty important too!
I'm don't have a veritable knowledge of such things so wondered what anyone could suggest. Gatorskins? Armadillos? -
• #334
there is a search function, it is your friend, use it
-
• #335
That is a very helpful comment, thank you, alas all my searches turn out are either 'wanted' or 'for sale' posts.
-
• #336
ffs, look at the second page of links when you put "tyres" into the search box
search function is your friend, i am not your nursemaid
-
• #337
Ah yes, thank you, I missed that. It would have probably been easier for you to just post a link (not too nursemaid-y?) but if passive aggression is the way forward, then OK.
-
• #338
no, because you would never learn that way
-
• #339
I think doing it this way has been far more damaging.

I have used and would recommend Maxxis Refuse, Bontrager Racelite Hardcase, and if you're a skidder Gatorskin Hardshells or Vittoria Randonneurs (though the latter are heavy and are not fun to fit).

Ace, thank you.

Your fragile ego was damaged by the suggestion to use the search? Both of the highlighted threads can be located through the combination of that magic facility and the application of a little common sense.
How devastated would you have been if I had suggested UTFS?

awwwwww

I did a search and it threw up a load of threads with bell-ends getting all high and mighty about searching. Funny what a forum does to a person, I'm sure the majority are pretty decent in a real life situ.

One of the problems is that you'll usually get classified results in your searches which then makes everything a mission.
...as proved by
That is a very helpful comment, thank you, alas all my searches turn out are either 'wanted' or 'for sale' posts.
Go to the advanced settings and select the "(no prefix)" option. That will remove the classifieds.
It's then just a matter of utfb and choosing the most recent or most posted in threads. Not trying to kick-start the discussion just trying to pass on some knowledge.

I've got £40 to my name, so Gatorskins are out of the question, but i have an interest in the Vittoria Open Corsa (there's 2 types). Does anyone have experience with these? Better options?
Will be buying from Planet X tyre section as they have the best deals currently. Loads of tyres in price range, but wondering what's going to do the best milage.
Thankyou for all help, and not trolling :)

Ribble currently has gumwall zaffiro pro's for £8.99 (folding)

-
• #348
I'm looking for the best performance/milage i can pull off. Do some serious distance and happy to spend all to get the best i can afford.
Just wish i could afford 23mm Gators again, but my current ones are almost to the inner tube.
-
• #349
bontrager racelite hardcase ... i find them great have them on a few of my bikes
very puncture resistant and hard wearing
-
• #350
Does that £40 include inner tubes? If not, you can get pair of gatorskins just under 40 from ebay.
randonneurs are huuuuge! they're a step away from mountainbike tyres.
