For what purpose? Conti do their 4000S II in 650c as a sweet training/race tyre.

Nothing serious, hiphopscenesterTTroadbike posing and some commuting, but my commute is mainly country lanes rather than than an inner city obstacle course.

23 only really. rubino pros can be had for £10

Any recommendations for a quick clincher tyre for use at Herne Hill and summer crits, that could also handle being ridden to the track/races?
I'm currently on GP4000s ii and tbh love em, just wondering if there's anything else I should consider…GP Supersonics, Veloflex Master, Vittoria Corsa cx/sc...

Assuming you've got latex tubes in them, I doubt you'll find anything that does all those things as well as GP4000S.

Cheers, that's what I'd figured but nice to have it confirmed
-
• #1408
Not sure that having something confirmed by an idiot actually helps, but you're welcome anyway! :)
-
• #1409
How about having it confirmed by two idiots?
All those alternatives will work but I think GP Supersonics are a bit fragile. I've never used them personally but I know those who do and won't TT on them unless they know the roads are good/clean (or they're feeling flash and it's an A race).

Happy to TT on them on any surface, but definitely too delicate to RR on, especially if you're having to ride to races.

Even better!
May as well stick with what I know and get on well with then. Top priorities are low rolling resistance and grip in the corners but no point having the quickest tyres then suffering punctures mid race

Veloflex Masters are great tyres, and I've found them surprisingly durable as long as it's dry. Greasy roads and flint and they cut up like nobody's business. Still have one on the front of my tarck bike and it's survived Norwich and London puncture-free

Have you ridden gp4k's? How do the masters grip in comparison? I don't think there's much between them when looking at CRR.
In my opinion it's worth switching to something like the GP4seasons when it get real wet anyway

I have, neither ever let me down in terms of grip but I think the Masters are a slightly nicer ride.

I am going to test how Vittoria Rallys holds up this summer .. at £9 a tyre with latex tube cant really complain. Don't need much stretching either AND come in 25c!
-
• #1416
Are they even close to round? And don't they have a butyl tube?
-
• #1417
According to vittoria website they have latex .. plus the valve on my latex tubes (also vittoria) matches the valve on rally .. they seem round .. bit porky but I dont care.

Great choice - handles gravel fine as well - carried me from Denmark thru Sweden and further to Warsaw in 7 days.
Where did you find them at 9£?

Ribble with code last week

Thx

Rallys are ok. They're cheap tyres though and ride accordingly (although still better than most clinchers).

I held out and used Veloflex corsas all winter - they're fairly cut up but still usuable after a lot of winter riding (including some accidental CX) but they feel so much better than GP4000s that it felt worth the extra cost.
I also felt much more confident in the wet on Corsas than GPs, two cents from another idiot -

Received Schwalbe One today, 25 for the front (28 GP4S at the back) and did a test ride. So far impressed, would love to try it at the back too, but that's just not feasible because skids. Really an amazing tire, sticky, nice sound, rolls very fast, good looks and easy to put on.
Also have two Contis to go through but after that I think I'll just stock up with RiBMo's, both front and back and just be done with it, tired with fiddling.

Have just started using the Schwalbe One in 28mm tubeless. So far - fucking awesome, seems fast, grippy and comfy.Tubeless mounting on the rear rim was fussy, front was no problem.

Aren't Ones a bit delicate for general riding/commuteering? Thought they were a race tyre.
