  • Mine are only 2 months old and look new still but I don't cycle in them all the time.

  • I have same issue. Am looking for some cycling friendly jeans. This thread has been very helpful. Thanks Ladies.

  • Just been to uniqlo, both their skinny taper and the ultra stretch jeans do seem good, good value and stretchy, not excessively low cut. But I couldn't get a simultaneous fit on bum/waist and thunder thighs :/

  • hoefla I think that's a universal cyclist problem

pretty much everything I own has a gaping waist or needs a lot of coaxing over my thighs

  • I know. But I don't even think I have remotely "cyclists physique". It's just annoying. I have a pair of wapha shorts that fit well - but I think they are supposed to be baggy on the leg.

  • Hoefla, you are not alone. Many wimmin have that problem, whether they cycle or not. I've never been able to get trousers that fit my waist, hips and thighs. Use of a belt, every time.

Get the Uniqlo jeans. You know you want to :-)

  • Have to put in another vote for the ten quid skinny jeans from New Look. I don't ride in them a lot, but they are bloody comfy when I do! Super stretchy and soft. I can't do Uniqlo jeans, they don't go big enough!

  • Recommendation for those struggling with the thigh hip waist ratio... Levis. They've started doing different shapes in the "curve" range.. I was skeptical but mine are really comfy. I got the ones with the extra stretch fabric composition and I find them very good for cycling.

  • Is anyone else going to the Evans ladies night on Monday?

  • I bought some Swrve 3/4 shorts earlier in the week. Two of which were 50% off. They fit alright and I will need a belt but I'm very happy with them.

Shoosh, I didn't know Evans were having a ladies night. Hope it goes well and that you find it useful.

Where you find bargain Swrve please??

  • I was speaking to my GF a while back about women specific cycling clothing but she just gave me a funny look, what do the ladies on this forum want as I need a plan as my GF has 25 years worth of fashion experience from Katherine Walker to Jenny Packham and I have always said to her to investigate this niche market be the classier and better quality Rapha to the ladies market in cycle to work wear, any opinions or advice welcomed .

Unfortunately all women are not the same, so some want roadie douchebag stuff, some want mtb kit, some want commuteable etc - much like men in fact.

I actually want all of the above but most bike shops give you the option of one purple Endura jersey and some Gore shorts and that's it. Obviously you still get far fewer women than men in bike shops so they don't want to over cater to their smaller audience, but at the same time I'd go to bike shops a lot more if I thought I had a chance of finding any decent women's stuff.

  • Evans ladies nights info... I was late to find out about the last one so assumed you all knew.

  • what do the ladies on this forum want

read this thread?! plenty of opinions on what "we" want, and what is lacking in general.

  • Rosie repped for pointing out the obvious

We just want as many fucking options as the menz have godamnit!

(I still like my purple Endura jersey though.... hides)

  • Hi Ladies, just thought I'd post up in this thread that I'm selling some road shoes and DZR shoes in the classifieds section:

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread124980.html#post4170589

in case any of you are on the look out for some new shoes!

The sidis have been worn just a handful of times, so are pretty much as new, and super comfy. I've no road bike at the moment, so no need for these.

The DZRs have been worn more, but still perfectly fine. I love these shoes, but unfortunately my feet are just a bit too shallow for them, so i've been wearing thick socks all winter, and have opted for some other shoes for the summer.

The thread has been posted by my boyfriend, Dom, so hope that doesn't confuse people. Please feel free to contact either of us if you are interested.
Dom is also selling his size 7 yellow mavic road shoes in this thread also.

    Thanks :)

So if you want to target the fashion-savvy female commuter you should probably know that Rapha are starting to up their game on the women's casual stuff, there's actually a women's city riding collection now which has some nice bits in it.

Since it's only just launched they're laying down the basic staples (a shirt, t-shirts, windproof jacket, jeans) first, so if you wanted to outshine them you'd probably want go further and look at more ambitious things like a dress, a waterproof/winter jacket or if she can do accessories, a bag.

It's a very difficult thing to specialise in though since as others have said, there's a huge variety in tastes and styles within a very niche market, so you'll never appeal to everyone. The more 'classy' and 'fashion' you go the more you will alienate the women who are happy to commute in 3/4 shorts and an Endura jersey.

  • A dress. I've (we've) been wanting a dress for a while!

kati got the Field Dress, she's happy with it.

  • More like something i can sweat buckets in and now worry about pit stains! :)

  • I'm pretty sure Sweaty Betty do workout dresses that might fit your criteria, mands. On phone so no link but i'm certain i've seen some nice ones in the past.

  • ^ I've seen nice ones there previously but the only one on their site at the moment is this one, which is a bit grim: http://www.sweatybetty.com/match-point-tennis-dress-prodsb718_rockpoolmarl/

There's a picture of Lola wearing a really nice cycling dress that I've seen before, I'll have a look for the picture. (though, to be fair, Lola could make a bin bag look great!!)

  • she models for Ana Nichoola?
