+1 for a shot of you modelling the trousers scoot.
need to invest in some waterproof bits, last night's ride was a good reminder

oh man, the product review section of the sweaty betty site is a joke.
as are the customers comments like:
"I expected these to have the cycling pad integrally, and thy did not."
in waterproof trousers?! um, ew??

Does anyone know of any good women's winter gloves? The sealskinz are obviously pretty good but other than that there doesn't seem much out there. Any recommendations?

have some pearl izumi softshell ones which are good for general cool weather riding. not fully waterproof, and not really for sub-zero (ok with an additional thin liner), but good most of the time through a london winter.
think they're these ones: http://www.cyclesurgery.com/pearl%20izumi%20cyclone%20women's%20gloves/full-finger/bikes-components-bikewear/fcp-product/20149

hmm, similar name on evans site brings up different looking gloves, but they look bulkier, maybe warmer? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pearl-izumi/womens-cyclone-gel-full-finger-gloves-ec041583
mine look like the cyclesurgery ones.

I’ve got sealskinz but they’re not going to be enough for when it gets really cold (I have terrible circulation). I want some gloves to go inside them... though then of course it gets difficult to do anything one you’re all gloved up as it takes so long to get your fingers out. So I’m on the hunt for either a pair of super warm gloves, or thin but warm liners for my current gloves. Ah, winter...

thin warm liners is what you want.
look for silk ones if you can, or merino. sometimes hiking outdoorsy shops have silk ones. -

Decathlon used to do fairly cheap silk liners. I've managed to lose one of mine so I hope they still do them!

get some lobster gloves.. they're awesome for when it gets really really cold
I have some altura ones (i think equivalent to the night vision ones now) that are a lot warmer (or maybe just less breathable) than other softshell/ windproof gloves -

^^ looks like they still do:

The icebreaker one looks nice, but a bit pricey - I am good at losing gloves so can't justify spending lots of money on them.
Decathlon's a good call though - and I do love a trip there! Anyone fancy a excursion to stock up on silk liners and warm wintery stuff, as well as viper chocolate and assorted nonsense?

The lobster pearl Izumi gloves pretty good. Not waterproof though like sealskinz. Maybe I'll do the sealskinz with a liner too.

I really want lobster gloves now. I just love the way they look :)

I knew you'd be up for it, Poots!!

i love the dry quick towels they sell there too. 2x15 quid. I have to go before I go to Brazil

Got me two of those on my most recent visit ; )

I'm in the market for a pair of tights as the weather gets colder, has anyone got any recommendations?
-
• #572
My favourites are Sugoi. Got some nice Pearl Izumi ones too. Both fleecy and toasty.
-
• #573
Thanks! I'll take a look at them.

Tights as in running leggings? Nike do some cheap (£20-ish) ones made from recycled plastic bottles which appeal to my tight-arse and environmentalist side, but it's Nike so disappoints on my anti-capitalist side.

Ideally I would like padded ones as I like having a comfy bum haha. I was using a pair of thermal skiing pants with padded shorts underneath previously so some more weather resistant padded ones would be a bonus this year.
Happy blated bday (I think!) poots!
