  • BTW, I just got some of the cigarette shorts, hemmed to 6".
    Love them.
Just the right amount of stretch and lots of pockets!

  • Aaaaahhh I want the cigarette shorts but the smallest waist size is 28"!

  • Jay, I don't know what size you are normally, but I got the 32", and they are TIGHT.
Comfy because they are stretchy, but still not loose at all. And my arse isn't THAT big.

  • Hm. Seems I need to get back with Chris, whom I asked about this stuff. I can make a decision based on the rise. If it's a high rise then 28" will prob be too big, if not, then it might fit. I generally wear 26/27 somewhere low on hips. Especially if there will be stretch, I don't want to get something that fits just right. In 4 months they'll be too loose.

  • I'll wear mine for you on Saturday, if you like. That might give you an idea.

  • THanks, that'll work!

  • SheActive is having a sale, lots of goodies available, and I also found this sports bra on wicked discount:
    http://www.sheactive.co.uk/item_detail.html?cart=127875948837223989&itemno=6219&type=brand&group=00000007

    32C last size available.

  • I would probably just stick it over a uniqlo t-shirt (I <3 uniqlo thin t's) and leggings. It has pockets too, dresses with pockets are ace.

did anyone get one of these? there i kinda like it and agree, uniqlo is the way forward for tees!

  • I only buy dresses with pockets.

  • I only buy dresses with pockets.

    me too

They sold out of my size online, and the shops in London were pathetic, neither the Oxford Street or Originals shops had even heard of it, so I gave up.

In the end I got a Uniqlo dress that is much nicer. It isn't on the website, so can't show a picture, but its basically a sleeveless short black dress, with a hood and pockets. I think its meant to be for yoga or something, but I just stick it over leggings and it's perfect for summer riding. I think it was either £12 or £14.

ohhhhhhhh a hood and pockets! that sounds immense, i'm going to uniqlo at lunch today to check it out :D

  • Yes, there's a Uniqlo around the corner from me but I STILL don't have the PIN for my debit card so I am stymied at present.

  • Evans have clothing sale (and everything else sale on too, actually) on at the moment. Just bagged myself a pair of Pearl shorts for almost half price.

Although if you want them sooner rather than later, then you amy want to either go instore or elsewhere...My shorts still haven't arrived and apparently they're awaiting a delivery which means dispatch won't be until at least the end of next week! Boo!

  • I know that at this point I'm being well cheeky....

but I wanted to give you girls a heads up that the Brixton Cycles secret sale will have A LOT of Assos women's clothing in it. I'm pricing it up now, and it looks like there will be a considerable amount of jerseys and shorts at half price.

  • I don't consider that being cheeky at all. I regard that as you writing down your jobsheet forgetting that it's being posted here :-).

  • Quick stupid question.

Is there anyone that makes tailor made cycle clothing for women?

  • Can anyone please recommend some good ladies winter gloves. I've been searching and keep finding mixed reviews?

  • I didn't think gloves were women specific to be honest
Maybe I just have big hands?

I just get regular gloves size L.
I have these at the moment
Northwave - really good fit, and let you 'do things' with the gloves still on
Giordana Activia - toasty, waterproof but MASSIVE thumbs (only bought these as I thought I'd lost the Northwaves)
Gore winter gloves - for epically bad weather.

My favourite are still the northwave ones,
Mine are a couple of years old, but I think these are pretty much the same

Better still have a look at the winter glove thread, a great resource

  • i've put off cycling to work for the last couple of weeks due to the weather :/

any recommendations on trousers and jackets to keep me warm and comfy over a 9 mile commute ?

  • shoosh - jenny j and I have just bought the porelle ones. you can get them from evans. I bought mine in small, which fit my long-fingered hands, but not when I'm wearing padded gloves underneath. I like a bit of padding, and these have...almost none. so go up a size.

renster - swrve.co.uk I didn't want to believe Chris when he said the winter weight WWRs were useful, but they are! Though they are 3/4 length, I wear merino tall socks and it works perfectly for me b/c I run a little hot.
I have the Swrve Milwaukee ES hoodie, which I love except for it not being useful above temps like today. I was even mildly warm and didn't have any merino on.
And there's a merino hoodie that I'm lusting after, called something like the Wallabee? But I can't seem to find it online. Probably I'm not calling it the right thing.

  • thanks, jayloo - i have been looking around the swrve site as of late, but good to get a recommendation. i'd better get in touch with this chris dude and see what suits me for these colder months ahead.

  • I bought a pair of these weeks ago in preparation for the winter - I hate winter. Hadn't had a reason to crack them out before today, but last night froze my toosh off on my way home, so this morning though 'the hour has come'.
Good fit, small amount of padding in the bum, toasty warm (like brushed/furry interior) and all for £38 from wiggle. Good buy.

  • ^ see, im trying to work out if those alone are warm enough to wear at 7am ? if so, i'll buy them.
