Excellent! I've been waiting for this ride as I've already booked the day off in anticipation. Did it last year and the year before. Must remember thermals and winter gloves for the early hours.
Poots, the ride is in the early hours of Tuesday morning so you may need to book that day off. I remember one or two people did go into work after the ride but I crawled home to bed. Felt strange having a kip and hitting the road at silly o'clock to go on this ride the first time I did it, but was relieved to see there were other nutters out too. Last year there were less people but still enjoyable.

the call of the fry-up to a hungry cyclist is hard to resist!
If I do this, not sure if I'll go from Primrose Hill to Southwark only to have to go far north to get home :{ -

This year's Midsummer Madness is on a Tuesday night - Tuesday 21 June: Always magic about. Meet 2am Cutty Sark Gardens or 2.30am Southwark Needle (south end of London Bridge), or 3am Bar Italia in Froth Street...for an easy paced ride under the dawn chorus of Regents Park to the top of Primrose Hill in good time for the 4.43am sunrise. Then back through the quietest West End streets you've ever seen to a north Southwark cafe for breakfast around 6am. Then work or whatever...who's coming?
hmm sounds ace. could either leave SE beers early and grab a powernap beforehand. or man up and stay at the Roebuck til they turf us out at 1AM and then head over. probably in anyhow

Can anyone confirm if this is on the Tuesday or Wednesday? I.e. is it in the early hours of Tuesday or Wednesday morning? Thanks in advance!

After reading the "Rolling to the Stones - destination Avebury" one would assume it was Monday night/Tuesday morning. However missmouse' post No16 make it quite clear it's Tuesday night - though she could mean Tuesday morning.
"The exact time for the 2011 Summer Solstice is June 21st, 5.16pm (making the sunset on the 21st and sunrise on the 22nd the closest events)"
source: heritage-key.com/event/stonehenge-summer-solstice-**2011**So I presume the ride is Tues 21st night/Wed 22nd morning!?!?

Is that an intentional misspelling? Very funny if not.

Grr, how annoying. Was hoping it would be Wednesday as i'm unable to take the Tuesday off work...
I wonder how much i'll be able to function at work after a night on the tiles/roads.

Yes. Frith Street completely taken up by riders. Long line up to Primrose Hill. It's good.

Will have just started a new job then - hopefully will still be able to get day off!

This ride will have a different complexion without Barry Mason. I hope everyone turns up as I'm sure he would want. I will raise a glass to him on Primrose Hill.

I know it's a non-forum ride, but why isn't there a list yet?

Just to assure everyone, this ride will still be going ahead as planned and there will still be a feeder ride from Greenwich, via London Bridge up to Brick Lane. So to-iterate:
Meet 2am Cutty Sark Gardens or 2.30am Southwark Needle (south end of London Bridge), or 3am Bar Italia in Frith Street.....for a slow comfortable ride under the dawn chorus of Regents Park to the top of Primrose Hill in very good time for the 4.43am sunrise. Then back through the quietest West End streets you've ever seen to a north Southwark cafe (TBD) for breakfast around 6am. Then work, or bed.
Sounds good.
