I'm not adversed to anyone making a few quid on a bargain (although I'm not convinced it was a bargain unless it is a merckx). But I would say anything over £300 would be too much. If you include the campag bits it came with £300 seems OK.

I agree with the posts above, a side note:
Some artifacts are worth a potential sum of money to the owner regardless of the demands of the market.
"I'm not selling this for less than x, because I won't be able to find it again or it has sentimental value or I can't find something as good for x, etc."

I agree with all conflicting posts above
is it scratched?

i disagree ;)..
well said scott - potential for a witch hunt was on
very nice frame, someone offershigh price people discuss and agreement is made that buyer and seller will be happy with - good deal struck, build bike up go ride....

this sums it up for me.
Yes, he can ask a million zillion for it, but it doesn't detract from the point that this forum helped him find it in the 1st place.if that's not the case, I stand corrected.
It's still a nice frame though, and there is no reason it shouldn't sell for around £250 or even £300.
in all honesty mate selling it for more than what you paid for it
to people who discovered the link
is just cheeky
very very cheeky -

Honestly, I found it on ebay not the forum it has a few chips and minor scuffs in the paint thats it.
I'd like to get what's fair for it, that's why I have dropped the price. I was willing to pay £350 on ebay so I think thats a fair price. -

in the meantime if anyone would like to sell a 60cm c-t lo-pro frame with non-vertical dropouts and some kind of exciting tubing for vastly less than they might be able to get for it from someone else, please feel free to pm me....

It's worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it
like Jims Jams said about the mugs.. thats where it's at.. mugs, there are far to many of them about, its like a fucking lake district tea shop run by a mug loving old lady with a un-easy knack for bulk making mugs, aided by her son who has a phobia of cups cured only by being close to mugs.

If you want £350, put it back on eBay and see if you get lucky. Knowing what you paid for it, i would be surprised if anyone on here stumped up the cash.
-
• #37
jim jams why you after a low pro? what with your back!
personally i think it looks shit. but i'll take those forks when you get tired of this mob winging and decided not to sell it on here.

Sorry guys but i don't agree at all.
Sure, you know how much he paid for it...and he's done nothing to it, and maybe nobody on here thinks it's worth it.
BUT...
If somebody manages to be lucky enough to buy a bike for a good price, and then decides they don't want it...why shouldn't they be allowed to make a profit? If i get a bike for a bargain price...that's my lucky break....but i'm sure as hell not gonna sell it for the same price if i know i can get more.
It's exactly what Roberto, Jos, Keith...and everyone else does. For the record i think £450 IS overpriced....but it's up to Milo how much he charges...and if he doesn't sell it then he can drop the price if HE decides...which he just has.
this is my dilema every time I thinking in selling my lo-pro, what price to ask
I got a very good deal in it, so should I pass the deal to another forum member or shuold I ask for the normal price this frame is worth??and IMHO, £450 is overprice, sorry

I couldn't care if somebody got a bike because they were walking down the street and bumped into an old lady who had ridden to the vets to buy medicine for her dying dog who she'd had since it was a puppy and had been a companion for her because her family had all moved to france...and she was 12 pence short of being able to afford the medicine, but wanted to save her only friend so badly that she offered him the bike for 12 pence....which he took, and then decided was too big for him....so he decided to sell it for £1679...if i wanted that bike and was happy to pay that much...i'd fucking buy it!
It makes absolutely no difference what anybody else previously paid for the frame, or where or how he got it...he can ask what he likes, and if someone likes it enough they'll buy it...if nobody buys it then it's up to him to decide what he wants to do.

Surely whether we know the initial purchase price or not does not change the value of the item?
The market i.e. us lot will set the value we are willing to pay, to a degree.
If we decide that we will not pay what the vendor asks then he can either keep it or sell it elsewhere.
Yes, there should be an ethical dimension- one should not attempt to make a huge markup on something when selling something, but selling something for a fair market value is surely ok?
We are self regulating here to a high degree which is great- if I had bought a frame for a fiver and then tried to sell it for £100 I'd expect a) to be found out, and b) a great deal of opprubrium.
It's up to the sellor to work out if he is here to make a profit from the forum, or recoup what he paid.
I go for the latter option, but then selling bike parts is something I do to make room or pay for new parts, not to pay the bills.
We expect Wiggle/Evans et al to markup their goods after all.

what matters is that £450 is a very high price to most people for what it is. meaning the OP will find it much much harder to find the customer.

not sure that would go in my ebay sales patter.

It's the difference between social and market norms innit:
http://www.predictablyirrational.com/?page_id=129
Forum folk tend to look after one another, making money on re-sales seems a bit off.
I agree with Scott here- it's up to Milo to price it, it's then up to the market to decide if they wish to pay that price.
