That's not completely true.
Shimano has decent exploded views en service instructions. Come together with the parts and are almost all online. They explain exactly how to remove and re-install a lever blade of a brake lever for drop bars. The levers even come with a nice tool to hold the spring in position and an Allenkey to loosen the screw.That you may have a personal preference for Italian Campag stuff is another cup of tea (/espresso).
