Hi reeem,
just wondering...how much did all the parts cost?
wtf? you really rub it in, don't ya?! and name is reeen, much like the queeen. i never made a list really. it was all bit by bit wise so it was possible/bearable for me to fix and ...hmm, some may say pimp it a little.
so let's see:
-BB shimano part with installation 30,- at magic bikes (due to unknown size, i know now ... 110mil)
-Deda stem 16,- + shim 1,- (John Smith's can from offlicense ;)
-kmc chain 12,-
-fsa head set 12,-
-spokes 36,- + black nipples 5,-
-Xposure brake lever (pair) 11,-
-shimano 450 brakes (pair) 25,-
-tyres, tubes 50,-- "BLB suginos" in gloss black with coloured screws 73,-
that's to get it to a milehungry state, wopping 241,- or so.
last parts went down on the bill after 1600 miles and are more due routine maintenance replacements and/or personal preference:
-hub service and repack with new bearing cages+races front and skf bearings rear 16,- (including a spare axle, you never know!)
-saddle charge knife 40.-
-cinellie bartape 7,-given the bike came in on 90quid (still a lot IMFO) so ja, not cheap but not as much as some ppl spend on the cranks alone, i guess.
by the looks of it, all moving parts are so low quality and badly aligned that they don't hold up some serious miles on a commute, let alone abuse. 98% of the mechanical important moving parts have been changed within the first 2(BB!) to 400 or 500 mi after their destruction and that is totally unacceptable.nice project for me, learned a lot, especially that there are pricy bike parts out there for a reason. in case of newbieness or general cluelessness, go for entry level/lower middle level priced parts and find out how long they'll do it for you before splashing out while maybe riding like puss. (that is the case if you still didn't snap the chain ;)
see you out there,
ride conscious, ride save! - "BLB suginos" in gloss black with coloured screws 73,-

I have a hard time believing that someone who claims to be a mechanic can say that these bikes are mechanicly sound, given the large number that we get coming into our shop for...oh...everything going wrong on them.
My favorite was the guy who hopped off a curb at a funny angle and bent his forks out.

Did he stretch the hub and spokes accordingly?

I did it for him in the willy wonka patented tapping machine.

I just read this on Prolly's Blog, I guess it's American UO stores only and the moment, but it's just a matter of time before they come over here?

Looks like a Unipack, despite the fact that they're branded Republic.

I was given a create/unipack for my b'day from my better half. I have made a few tweaks to it and its a great little thing for when im down in hampshire. Only thing i would change straight away is the cranks, chain and bearings. all of which i had spare...

she clearly tries to get rid of you ;) bless you for being aware and looking in here. let it back fire to her and push hard on the bike towards her and brake for her in the last possible second, the brakes will bent and she get's it back, ha! *laughes_like_a_hyenaEDIT: oh shit, that was long answer eat breakfast while typing fail, brakeless is a diff matter. hope you redid the cog and lockring yourself.

Done a load of work on it myself and all seems ok, never had a problem apart from one time where the original bearing shattered but didn't cause a problem, just a lot of noise.
missus road it once and got her skirt caught in it. But otherwise no problems even locking rear wheel on steep hills, however would not ride here with it.

I think the rider needs replacing.

i feel so sorry seeing all those people riding their bright and shiny CREATE bikes knowing that it will end in tears
such a shame will put them of fg / ss for life -
• #996
bah, its a true test of character?
Dicki - no it wont, however thinking about a charge for up here... -

i love people defending unipaks, it generally takes the form "i have had to replace (and taking 3 or 4 from this list)- wheels/brakes/bearings/cranks/chain/stem/hubs/cables/forks/pedals but it works fine now"
FFS these things should not fail within the first few months of owning a new bike

• #998
only when you do tricks should your bits fall off / break
-

pah, no way. for some reason I have grown attached to the bike and i dont have any problems riding brakeless
if you're still using the original wheel the unipack came with, don't be so fucking stupid.

not to mention the original chain...
Well obviously. The seat tube is bent.
